pic #5. Last one for now.

As seen here it was equipped with a '71 455HO +.030, 068 cam w/ 1.65 rockers, stock intake & exhaust manifolds, SD Q-jet, complete NOS SD exhaust system, TH400, L88 converter, 3.42 posi, A/C, etc.

It ran a best of 13.75 @ 102 MPH like this.

The original owner had it resprayed in the original Bucaneer Red and had the '70 1/2 - '72 stripes and decals applied before I bought it from him in 1983.

If I remember correctly, these pics were taken in 1985 or so. This was at one of the old Gulf Coast Trans Am Club drags at the long defunct Houston International Dragway here in Houston.

Later,
Lloyd

Soon I'll starting a body-off restoration on a 72 GTO 455HO, TH400, A/C, etc.; Sundance Orange with Ivory buckets

Lloyd, the pictures look Great !!
It seems only yesterday we were at The Dickenson Dragstrip, man those were the days.
You had a awsome car and not only at the track, but as I remember also at the ISCA Autorama.
Thanks for the Memories, we are talking over 20 years ago, I started the TA club back in 1976.
Guys like you made it happen.
What ever happened to the 75 ?

Thanks for the compliments Alfio. Yes, I drag raced the car, autocrossed it, showed it at the Houston Autorama for MANY years (best was 2nd in class) and street drove it some. Once I had the high compression SD engine in it, it required at least 50-50 race gas and since I only had a 12 gallon fuel cell in it I didn't drive it on the street a whole lot.

Yeah, it all brings back a bunch of fond memories. I'd sure like to locate more of the old GCTAC guys and see what everyone's up to - a reunion of sorts!

I've got rolls and rolls of old car pics I need to go through and get transferred to CD's. I'll post more then!

I sold the '75 back in late 1990 when Craig and I were getting ready to open up our current shop. Needed the money and knew I wouldn't have a good place to keep the car in the new shop. Couldn't stand the thought of it getting rained on!!! I can't recall the guy's name I sold it to - he lived somewhere south of Houston like Angleton? I do remember that he called me up a year or so later claiming that the car had been stolen - broke my heart!

I currently belong to the Trans Am Club of Houston and the American Pontiac Association, as well as POCI. Don't have a bunch of time to participate in too many shows, etc., but hopefully that will change once Caroline gets a little older. She already seems to like cars and maybe if she goes to some events she'll warm up to them even more!

Gotta run now, I'll see about running by your place next time we run down to Galveston.

Later,
Lloyd

75 T/A 3rd engine just went to Pontiac heaven the windage tray went to pieces and my #3 rod cut my brake line at the drag strip so no brakes, and when I tried to use the clutch my lotor was locked up ( a come to Jesus moment) so here I am again building another motor. Previous motor went 12:41 (no NOS) on DOT 10" drag rad, 455 bored .35 over, ross pistons, SD rods, Hyd roller cam, sharp roller rockers, 6X heads ported shaved, BBP, holly street dom. manifold, holly 770 cfm street avenger, msd dig 6 on worked over hei,NOS 150 shot with jacobs mastermind, billet flywheel centerforce clutch, lakewood bell housing, richmond 5 speed, long shifter, 12 bolt 3:23 gears. Found new block looking for crank prefer no turning, will go back same combo.

I also beat the GEETO Tiger this year at Arnies 50th. That also was lots of fun. The Pontiac Nationals wherent that good for me. I broke my finger 5 min. after we pulled in. Then I got the flu damn it was a bad weekend. I did go 4 rounds but I was feeling too bad and didnt even want to be there. Oh well Next year. Here is a nice pic from the 2003 Pontiac Nationals hope you like PhatDaddy and HighLands Racing

Looking to buy a 75 T/A White, Black interior, blue bird decal on hood, 48,000 miles. Is a price tag of $8,000.00 a good price? The car looks identical to Pontiaddicts. Any help would be appreciated. The car is an automatic. Thanks MaryAnn Also it's pretty much stock, except for a few things.

First off I want to say nice pic of your car 75fire. I like the wheels. I was thinking of doing that to my T/A. Really nice job on the car. Then second SmileE Lets put it this why. If the T/A you are looking at is what you say it is and has the miles you say it has its a great buy. Heck any car today with only 48,000 miles is a good deal. Then you find a 1975 T/A with only 48,000 miles wow!!! Where is the car from? It is really hard to find any older car without rust. If the body is rust free go for it. Every thing else can be replaced if you have to. I bought my 1975 T/A for only $3,000. No rust at all. The seats where really bad but hey $3,000 for a 75T/A with only 93,000 miles. I have never looked back since I bought my 75. It was the best purchase I have ever made. I really think you have a great deal there GO FOR IT. If you do get it lets see pics. Would love to see it. OH and 75Fire hoping to see more of your car also. 75Fire you in Illinois? Take Care PhatDaddy and HighLands Racing

PhatDaddy, I live approximately 180 miles south of you.
I don't think you'll find wheels like these any more they were made by Appliance and they are no longer made (all steel--bought back in '81). I've owned the car since Dec '79--first car. I've been showing the car since '94 and finally got it repainted in '97 and have been winning trophies ever since. It's never been to the track but it's set up to go. I'll never race it-- can't afford to tear it up and tracks are at least 100 miles away too. I have a question for you--why is your bird orange? Mine used to have orange "400" but I think it had been replaced before I bought the car.

75Fire its the wrong Bird on my hood. Two weeks before I won the 2001 Pontiac National Champioship my altenator blew up. Make a long story short (See Pic) it did alot of damage under and to my hood. I took my car to Rainbow Auto for him to fix it. Again to make a long story short Rainbow ordered the wrong Bird and Put it on the car.The day I picked up the car was the first day of the Nationals so I said leave the Bird on. When I got home he told me he would get a different Bird. He Did but I forgot all about it because of things going on in my life. By the time I remembered it was too late. They went out of business and moved away. Oh well I know where to get them so its no big deal. My friends kinda like it now and so do I. Maybe someday when I have tons of money Ill put a new Bird Back on it. Take Care PhatDaddy and HighLands Racing

Just to throw my 2 cents in here. I have a 75 455 HO model T/A, Stellar Blue with Black Interior. Has 81k on it. Been a shelving unit for about 6 years. Looking to put it back straight. My problem has been trying to locate a front bumper, as the drivers corner has departed. Typical rusty sheetmetal, but not too terribly bad, with a reasonably straight interior. Under the hood it is as stock as a rock, with th exception of true duals. Sports honeycombs all around

1975 400 T/A out of Pittsburgh PA. I waited 24 years for this exact car, as I had a chance to own one like it 24 years ago but it just wasn't meant to be then. MaryAnn
