Jay, Do you have any info on That Buick, Olds, Pontiac show that was held in Marietta last year as far as dates, websight, etc???

Mark,

The Jan 07' HPP Issue will be in Grocery stores/walmarts/Barnes and noble/ etc.. tomorrow late afternoon...according to the inside sources I have established since the news.No one has been in the mag aisle more than me this week...

The BOP&C show at the Marriott in Marietta is usually the last or next to last Sat of April. The Buick,Olds,Pontiac and Cadillac clubs alternate the hosting of the event each year...So as far as the web site I am unsure who has it this year..I am going to guess buick. But try www.segtoa.com for exact dates this year.

Other than the pollen it is a great show every year....

Thanks for the kind words lately..

Jay

Jay,
Congratulations on the article. In browsing through it I saw where you installed a Crane XR1 conversion kit in the distributor. When I installed one of those in my '74 the tach quit working. Did you have the same problem and if so how did you fix it?

Thanks,

I would check the tach to coil and make sure you had it on the negative side.

I bought the conversion for mainly the rev limiter. Once installed the timing had to be re adjusted but other than that no driveability problems.......until I got to the dragstrip.

Because I was experimenting with gearing....it made sense to limit the revs..I had the limiter set at 5800 to prevent damage thru the lights. In Norwalk it hit the limiter on my only pass and seemed to not only kill all spark..but it fouled 2 or more plugs in the process. All the raw fuel on cold plugs I assume was the culprit....others too (Cliff)(SdBOb)

As soon as we got home I pulled it out and reinstalled my points ignition... then replaced my plugs.

I assumed it would kill only 1 plug to limit the revs but I was wrong.

Default my 76 firebird

This is my first attempt at resizing and posting pictures. They're looking a bit squished on preview but I'll give it a go. I got my car back yesterday after 9 months in the body shop. It is a rendition of the one I ordered brand new back in 76. Got it for my birthday last year and they have been working on it whenever business was slow. Took a vintage car appraiser with me to Toronto to look it over before buying cuz I'm blond and female and what the heck do I know? It only has 75,000 miles on it and had truly been owned by a little old lady. While she may have only "driven it only on Sunday to go to church", the wrath of Canadian winters took it's toll. The appraiser assured me that it was a solid car so I paid full price and merrily brought it home. It was solid alright...solid mud. But I am happy to say that it is straight and a tank now and will spend the winters and rainy days in my nice warm garage. Now to tackle the interior. It was a firethorn colour before with a white interior which looked great in contrast. Now that the exterior is a nice new white, the interior looks grey. But everything is in good shape, not cracked or anything so I will spend the long winter cleaning. Carolyn

Yeah, it's a little squished but looks like a nice firebird...
You going with the white interior or maybe change it to red to bring that nice contrast back?

Good Morning and thank you. I agree the red would make a great contrast but this is a purely sentimental adventure. I had a white interior back in the day. I know. I'm crazy but that's what happens when you turn 50! Carolyn

Thanks Jay, I'd still rather have an Admiralty Blue '74 though!

Glad to do it, Jay. I'm happy to hear the story is being well received too. It isn't often we get feedback unless it's negative!

I'm having double vision of 2, maybe 3 wild creatures appearing from the woods. That's some pic, Brian. Wow. So, how many guesses do I get? Who else owns a his/hers set or Brewster Green SD TAs. They sure look awesome. I'm betting orange.

Rocky:

I've got an Admiralty Blue 74 that you can write an article on. Now that the distributor is working as it should, it definately is a tire shredder. I bet I could do just as good a burnout as Jay did in his "Y" code T/A. LOL

Great article Rocky. Jays a good guy and I've enjoyed knowing him over the last few months. If we could just find an SD car for him.........
