Metal looks good , but the interior is definitely in need of some TLC. Hope it all goes good.

Default Update #1

Lifted car so I could cut out and remove old exhaust. Removed rear sway bar. Pulled engine and transmission (pressure washed both). Started cleaning the fire wall and tunnel area. Looks really good once cleaned up. I will just clean the whole bottom of the car and bring back the original look like it left the factory with. Looks like no painting the bottom will be required like I had to on my 74.

Pressure washed the underside. Then began to hand scrub it with scotch bright pad and cleaner. You can see before and pictures (what a difference). Continue to clean rest of underside then move on the sub frame and rear end restoration. Nice shot of the air shock someone had on the car.

Pressure washed rear end and made sure I caught the different paint markings.
Couple of questions; what color should the rear leaf springs and front mounting plates be? The pictures show them to be steal look? The axle tubes are steal and the center chunk is cast color?

Thanks Bub

Looking forward to the pictures of the progress on the car. It looks like a real solid starting point.

This car is very clean and straight and it shouldn't take too long to complete it.

Today I used a wire wheel on the rear diff. and taped off the letter G on bottom of the center housing and also taped off on the letter G on the top side. The bottom G was painted in Orange and the top G was painted in Blue. Also found some Blue markings on opposite ends of the axle tubes. Also found a Green dot in the middle of the tubes.
Looks like I will just spray some satin clear on the center housing since the wire wheel brought back the cast iron color to perfection. I'll paint the tubes with a steal colored paint.

I did try some EVAPO-RUST (njsteve method) on the rear diff cover and on the leaf spring plates. What a difference, it didn't even touch the green paint that was on the cover. Nice stuff saves a lot of time...

Been using the EVAPO-RUST on anything and everything with rust associated with it. Talk about save time with this stuff. Did drive shaft, leaf spring axle mount plates and front leaf spring mount plates. Primed and painted the plates and left the drive shaft bare for right now. Painted the axle tubes and also added the blue inspection marks. Not sure why the last few pictures are rotated?

Finishing up on the rear end. Added the orange G and the yellow and white marks. Have a question about the color of the leaf springs. After I soaked them the evapo-rust and cleaned them up the color appears to be a dark gray. Is this the correct color for the 75 leaf springs? Hope someone will chime in on it. I thought they would of been steal shade.

Default Leaf springs

I believe they were left natural by Pontiac but I always re-spray these in cast iron gray which I think looks very nice. I never cared for them when some guys paint them black. Keep up the nice work!
