Default Finally Found A Picture of My Old 74 Formula 455

I would love to find this car again! I bought it slightly used in 74 from a dealer up in Knoxville, TN. Kept it about a year and half before joining the Air Force, then gave it back to the bank that financed it because I wasn't sure how much I would be making in the AF or where I would be stationed. Sure wish I had thought that through a little more, but hey...I was only 21.

I still have the original window sticker...and now this picture. If anyone knows of it (last seen in Knoxville in Summer of 1976), shoot me a PM!

BJ,
Your car is the one that I owned and sold. I am not kidding.I made a copy of the repop window sticker I had and just pulled it out of the drawer where I keep my old keepsake's. The story I got when I tried to buy the car years ago was that the car went from Indiana to Utah then here to Wisconsin. I tried to buy the car in 2001,but was lowballed by someone else who ended up flipping the car. I had to wait until 2014 to finally buy it and I had to sell it due to family needs ( 2015 ). The car had new GM Quarters installed years ago and the engine rebuilt. But all in all was a very nice and fast car. Just thought I'd share that with you.

I'm so excited to know that my old car survived that I'm beside myself right now! Thanks Jim! I just sent you a PM.

I've posted about this car several times in the past but never had any bites. That car was indeed, very fast! I bought it in Knoxville while in my Sophomore year at University of Tennessee. When I joined the Air Force in 1976, I flew back home after Baisic and drove the car back to Wichita Falls, TX while in Technical training at Shepperd AFB. I came back to Tennessee after the training and my next assignment wasn't certain, so I decided to give it back to the bank. Then, I got stationed at Moody AFB in Valdosta, GA. Once I got there, I realized I could have kept it and have regretted it ever since! She sure looks good!

Well...looks like the VIN doesn't match. Both cars shipped to the same dealership however, and it looks like the one Jim sold came with factory Ram Air - mine did not. Mine was Fire Coral Bronze - the one Jim sold was apparently Crestwood Brown. Both cars had the same interior and all the other options line up....still, it is as close as I've come to finding it.

Bummer...

Maybe I'll still try to buy it??

I just compared.
Man that is weird that he posted the VIN as being N120xxx while yours was N161xxx and they were the same car.

Hello guys, I would be Pat the current owner of Jim's old 74 Formula. I spoke with BJ today about the car that he is looking for. Unfortunately for him it is not the same car but amazingly these two cars came from the same dealer with a very rare color combo of Fire Coral Bronze with a Saddle interior. They were both very well optioned but mine has the Ram Air option. The only things that I added to the car were a set of 15" Honeycomb wheels and a Formula steering wheel. I am sure that BJ and I will have further conversations about the car but I thought you guys would like to here how this is playing out.

Need some help with the difference between Trim code 831 and 583 on these two cars. Mine had the code 583 which I recall as being the light beige with corduroy inserts. The car Jim sold to Pat has the code 831 and if I look at the pictures of his car in the for sale ad, the interior sure looks the same as the one in my car. Was it a difference in the dash and console color or the carpet color?

I also noticed that the Jim/Pat car does not have the power door locks option like mine did. However, the Ram Air Hood makes up for it!

I spoke at length with Pat this afternoon and this is a really nice, solid car. Hoping we can make a deal. So cool that these two cars went to the same dealership and were so closely optioned. Both were spoiler delete cars and both had Rally II wheels. Jim kept the Rally wheels when he sold it to Pat, and Pat has put Honeys on it. It really looks great now. He also put on a correct Formula wheel and still has the original.

Hey Pat...looks like we were both posting at the same time. Thanks for adding the garage picture. Those Honeys look great!

Sorry BJ the trim code thing is a little above my area of knowledge but these guys on this forum will surely clear that up.

Here is a link to the original for sale ad which shows an interior picture with the original steering wheel and the Rally II wheels.

They are the same.
One code is what is on the cowl tag and other is the Pontiac code.

BTW, is the last posted window sticker a reproduction or earlier form?
