I am in the EXACT same boat as you on that point.

Potential return on investement is something that is hard to ignore.

When I bought my '70 Formula (out of Riverton Manitoba circa July 1995), I actually went to look at a 74-W66/L75/M40/RA (the listing didn't say it was "ram air", but it had the stuff);
It was a red over black car;
I breezed over the same guy's listing for the '70 that I ended up getting because (from reading between the lines) it seemed to read as though the car was a basket case...
Before I went to look at he '74 Formula 455, I turned down looking at a '75 Trans Am with fresh paint for the same money...

I should dig up the pictures of the '74 Formula, and share them.

... and the RA hood bits I have were ended up buying some years later were also taken from a '74-W66/L75/M40 car - this one though was a super rusty Saskatchewan car - white over read as I seem to recall - I don't know if I snapped any pictures of it, but I can look.

Dennis, I think Dan bought that car for a very good price. I would expect the seller was asking north of $30K for it.

Mike, He was asking high 20's initially, and it would have been worth it if it was cleaned & detailed correctly and the original paint professionally buffed out. However, it needed quite a few little things to get there to the tune of a couple grand in parts and labor. The seller understood since he was in the Corvette restoration business. Still an amazing car that was on a few of the popular 'cars-for-sale' sites and no takers. It had red line radials that looked ridiculous on 15" Rally II's that didn't help. We told him that they were essentially worthless and serious Firebird people would be turned off.

od, if you want to read the details on the car Dennis was talking about, look here...

I was pretty sure Dan wasn't about to sell it soon.

Dave, have you contacted GM of Canada Vintage Services yet to see if they do have a 1 of ... stat?

Default Still for sale at lower price

Just an FYI that this car is still for sale.

Seller has dropped the price several times & a few days ago he dropped the asking price to $27000 Canadian. With yesterday's 77.8 cent exchange rate that is $21000 USD and it does read obo.

Here is the updated for sale ad

https://www.kijiji.ca/v-view-details...equestSource=b

starting to look like a good buy for someone.

Old post, but is the RA air cleaner the same as the 70-73 repop?

there are subtle differences for the different D-port application 70-74 Formula aircleaners;
But for all intents, they are the same - especially if you're considering a repop.

Yeah, not a numbers matching thing, more of contemplating putting R/A on my Formula.
