I'm building a similar motor to yours. Scat 4.00 crank, .035 over 400, 310cfm E-heads but with a BDS 6:71 and carbs on gas. Street motor.

Just got the dowels and we are currently making a jig to ream out the holes in the block.

Were going to cut the mains, then fill the block (1/2 way as I want to run coolant in the heads) and than do the machine work.

I bought;
A used PSI serviced and setup to your RPM (6,200)
A Mallory SM4 (regular output) with a new small cap and rotor
a coil, a harness, a bandclamp

Ok, it has been awhile since there was an update on the blower engine.

I have ordered for the blower engine, Kauffman Racing High Port heads, 64 CC, 2.200 intake, 1.750 exhaust, titanium retainers, 10 degree locks, h-11 springs, 380 CFM port work, 1200 series Ferrrea valves, five angle valve job. Best of everything except for the valves, I did not get the titanium valves.

Both banks of the block have been hard blocked. Once this is fully cured (28 days) we will start the machine work on the block.

I have decided against using the Wenzler Tunnel ram and have ordered a BDS blower intake. I will make a setback plate that incorporates a burst panel.

Glenn,

Are you sure a burst panel is required in the classes you will run in? I've been looking into possibly supercharging my car next year and I can find no mention in the rules for my car if I run 7.50 and slower. Maybe I just missed it.

Interesting. What times and speeds will you be running to be competitive in that class?

Times and speeds are hypothetical at this point as I have not been down the track yet.

This engine was in my Firebird (3,200 pound car) and went 10.6 at 126 in the quarter
Using that as a starting point and using the same engine in the FED with a weight of 1700 (with me in it) we are looking for times in the high 8’s, speeds of 150 or so

Nostalgia Eliminator 2 is looking at a 8.6 index, if I cannot go that fast I will have to slow the FED down to 9.6 as that is the index for the NE3 class.

With the new added punch of Alky I believe NE2 is doable.

Section 3
Nostalgia Eliminator
DESIGNATION
N/E, N/E II, N/E III, preceded by number.
CLASSES
N/E: 7.60 standard
N/E II: 8.60 standard
N/E III: 9.60 standard
Competition is based on using a four-tenths heads-up Pro Tree.
N/E: Reserved for front-engine center-steer cars only (dragsters, altereds, and pre-
1973 Funny Cars).
Left-hand- and right-hand-steered roadsters and altereds will be allowed to
run in N/E II and N/E III.

Glenn, Your dragster is looking very cool. Here's an option if you don't mind your blower sitting a little higher. I run a Hampton 2 1/2" spacer under my 871. Plenty of room there for a burst panel.

Here's a couple of pics with the spacer on my 64 Gasser build. Going for the cast look on this one and it kinda all blends together so you don't really notice the spacer. Just an option.

Good idea. I went out to the Hampton site http://www.hamptonblowers.com/PRICE.HTML and could not find the spacer. My blower is a retro blower so I will have to build a set back plate to get the outlet of the blower centered on the intake. I'm not sure that that can be acomplised with a spacer, I will have to think on it for a bit. Thanks

Mike Dunn makes offset drives and can provide one for a Pontiac if the blower encroaches the magneto.

Not that I am aware of. He is in Texas and most of the folks in the blown alky ranks are aware of him. He's a small shop and is old school, which is why I guess he never got a website. I have his business card and contact info at home, I'll post it later.

The offset is a "one size fits all" and he makes them to different lengths. It's the shafts that are obviously different depending on engine application. He didn't offer one for a Pontiac until I contacted him. Had him make one to my specs which was tall enough to clear my midplate (which also serves as a firewall) but short enough to clear the blower when mounted on a BDS intake without a spacer.
