May be able to relay some info for you. If there's some holy grail info for these years, ask me here and I'll see if the info exists.

Wrong room - this is for the dark years. :-p

And just basic options. There's no color info.

No, the only 1968 thing I found was Ram Air numbers by plant, and that's been floating around for years. Nothing new.

Many 73-77 production totals for options are not documented. Anything would be useful.

It would be easier for you to tell me what you'd like to know.

The eternal quest for 73, 74, 75 Grand Am 2dr/4dr/engine/transmission production totals. It's been speculated the numbers don't exist.

Option totals like this spreadsheet for 76-77, except for 73-75.
Again, the info may not exist.
http://www.pontiacpower.org/76-77optionproduction.xls

Thanks for checking!!

1. I do have manual tranny numbers but I think it's for all LeManses, which would include the Grand Am if memory serves correct.

2. There are more specific numbers that exist for 1973-74 but they are in code and not in plain English. I didn't have the time to try to figure it out but there may be home . . . or maybe not. That's for another time, maybe in a year.

3. The matrix you posted is exactly what I have, but I am not allowed to post them. That's why I'm happy to try to relay what I've found.

I guess if you tell me what the desirable options on these cars, I can take a look once I get the info organized.

How many LeMans GT's for 73, 74, 75, and 77. Wasn't offered in '76.
Can Am and GTO #'s are well known.

How many 455's? Last 455?

I will need the option codes for the GT.

For 1977:

499 LeMans with 3-speed.
I don't think there was a 4-speed that year.

For 1976:
650 LeMans with 3-speed.
230 with 5-speed.
1079 455s. I can tell you by bodystyle too:
- D29 - 410
- D35 - 69
- D37 - 14
- F37 - 93
- G29 - 78
- G35 - 252
- G37 - 163
(please add this up to see if it equals 1079)

For 1975:
2210 LeMans with 3-speed.
1041 with 455.

I really need to organize my stuff first but this is a bit to whet your appetite.

Trying to fill in some of the blanks on this chart, which is a work in progress.

http://pontiacpower.org/production.htm

Didn't know you could get a 455 in 1975 unless it was a Grand Am, unless that's what you meant.

833 M20 options in 1974. This would include Muncie and 4 spd Saginaw.

Codes are OK, most of us can decipher them no problem.
Production per engine code could be easily deciphered with the drivetrain charts in the parts book.

I guess desirable options would be (option code may be different for different years)
T36 NASA hood
CA1 or C03 sunroofs

I think it's better for me to organize first because I don't want to make any mistakes. I've been dealing with unorganized jpegs that are not in order, so I may go back and forth between years.

Regarding the Grand Am and the 455, I don't know the engine restrictions but "LeMans" counts for both models, I presume, so it certainly could be Grand Am-only.

I have finished with the 1974 stuff for A-bodies except Grand Prix (is it an A?). Apparently I am missing some pages but here's some of the more interesting things:

Limited Slip: 6106
High energy ignition: 4999
455-4: 2017
350-4: 6744
400-4: 7194
3-speed floor shift: 2201
3-speed except wagons: 1942
4-speed: 833
Honeycombs: 2050
T36 hood: 2499
Cornering lamp: 1425
Fuel economy gauge: 521
GT package: 6222
Rally Gauge: 2823
Rally gauge plus clock: 7427
LeMans Sport Coupe less louvers: 4050
D98 tape stripe: 9325
Two-tone paint: 2995
Rear airlift shocks: 968

Cars with the 455 for 1974:
- D29 - 5
- D35 - 54
- D37 - 18
- F37 - 148
- G29 - 10
- G37 - 64
- H29 - 285
- H37 - 1433

If they had sunroofs in '74, that's the page I'm missing.

Thanks for the info!
Do they break down production by engine code?
Still curious about which cars got the 400/4bbl/4spd combo, but I would understand if they don't break it down that way.
Is it possible for HEI, they meant Unitized?
Grand Prix is a G body.

Do you mean how many LeManses were built with the other engines, by body style?

Yes

It's possible but not with the paperwork I have recorded. If it exists, it would be in the item where I said "There are more specific numbers that exist for 1973-74 but they are in code and not in plain English. I didn't have the time to try to figure it out but there may be home . . . or maybe not. That's for another time, maybe in a year."

It's option K86, if that helps.

ADDENDUM

I found the missing page. For 1974:

- 1495 were built with the electric sunroof

- 469 were built with the manual one

Here are some 1975 items for LeMans:

- Electric sun roof 1219
- Manual sun roof 286
- Honeycombs (also listed as Rally III) 2444
- Air scoop hood 4109
- Cornering lamps (I believe this is Grand Am-only) 960
- Canadian base equipment 4243
- GT package 2868
- 455-4 1041
- 350-4 5967
- 400-4 6715
- 3-speed manual 2102
- Two-tone paint 2050
- Rear super lift shocks 884
- Limited Slip 4321
- Kilo instrument panel 2877
- Rally clock and gauges 7750

Here is the engine breakdown for the 455-4:

- H29 - 144
- H37 - 897

So, apparently, the 455 was only available on the Grand Am, correct?

I'll give you the top motor for the LeMans plus GA, the 400-4:

- D29 - 146
- D35 - 1036
- D37 - 148
- F37 - 646
- G29 - 324
- G37 - 1312
- H29 - 490
- H37 - 2613

I would appreciate it if you added these up and see if they match what I posted above in this post, just to make sure I've not made a mistake.

Great info Diego. Thanks for all your hard work!

I thought K65 was Unitized Ignition. HEI was a running change starting around May 1, 1974. I believe all new engine codes were issued and all engines got it except for the SD-455. K8x codes were generally used for alternators.

If you come up with a model breakdown on the M20 option, that would be another way to approach it. 2,424 in 1973 and 833 in 1974.

On the engine totals, was there any further breakdown on the wagons?
Models are D35 (which you listed), but what about D45, G35, G45

A handy A-Body Decoder
D29 Le Mans 4 door
D35 Le Mans 2 seat wagon
D37 Le Mans 2 door
D45 Le Mans 3 seat wagon
F37 Le Mans Sport 2 door
G29 Luxury(73-74), Grand (75-77) Le Mans 4 door
G35 Luxury(73-74), Grand (75-77) Le Mans 2 seat wagon
G37 Luxury(73-74), Grand (75-77) Le Mans 2 door
G45 Luxury(73-74), Grand (75-77) Le Mans3 seat wagon
H29 Grand Am 4 door
H37 Grand Am 2 door
