is this an original Firebird console? Looks like it started life as a Camaro console (the slots on the top, front section). Just cusrious, not bashing it.

No problem, I honestly don't know. I've only owned it for less than a year. Where it came from and where it has been for the previous 30 years +/-, I don't know. Can anyone else shed some light on the those slots?

I have several consoles that have those slots in them. I believe that the Camaro has a completely different map pocket area that is part of the console itself (I have a few of those if i was home I would send a picture of a camaro console). There was a further change for 80-81 in that there is a flap on the front base of the console for access to the computer. That looks like a normal 78-79 TA 4spd console to me, looks like ther might be something strange on the drivers side bottom area. Mark

Hi Mark,

Oddly enough, I bought this in May at the Comcast Center, where else, Mansfield Ma. Someday I'll catch up with you there!

Gregg I usually go there when I am around. I have been in Afghanistan for the last year, I will be home in Jan so i will be back for Comcast. I might dig through a couple of the storage buildings and sell of some stuff. I should have my RAIV Judge mobile by then and might just take it along as well. The tire I got from you is the spare for that car. Mark

Too bad I don't need a spare. Very fair price with the shifter tunnel and map pocket included.
