POCI Swap Meet
Anyone have info on POCi swap meet contact person? Alternative plan would be to wait until activity packets come out. Just trying to get my ducks in a row.
Thanks,
Hart

Attendees should check out the Eastern museum of motorsports. It has a lot of awesome motorsports history. http://www.emmr.org/

Not sure why information would be hard to find. If you're a POCI member, the full schedule has been printed in Smoke Signals for the past few issues now.

The host hotel is sold out. They are also doing the POCI Original Owner's Award again this year.

Can't wait to go. I'll be bringing my 64 Catalina Ventura from Connecticut. Looks like 300 miles on the nose. This is my first POCI national meet, but I have been a member since 2013.

Has everyone on this thread registered for the Pontiac Hall of Fame ballot voting..? The voting will be closing June15th. An article in Smokes will be coming out soon. Check out the acrylic plaques that get mounted to the HOF display. Jim & JZD have already been inducted. Here's a link for all to register. http://pontiacpreservationassociation.org/contact.php
It doesn't take long. Just go onto the web site http://pontiacpreservationassociation.org/ and read about each nominee. We need your votes to make a difference... At the awards banquet, I will be announcing & handing out special awards (the polished arrow stuck in the granite block) to the inductees. It's an honor for all to be apart of this presentation...! Don't miss out..! Gp Mike

They are also doing the POCI Original Owner's Award again this year.
This will be the 3rd convention at which POCI will present the Original Owners Award. It is also the 1st convention at which we will have a designated parking area reserved for OO awardees for 2019 and the prior years.
If you qualify (vehicle must be at least 25 years old by model year, and you must be the first and only owner) and have not applied for the award, time is running out. Please contact me ASAP at jgand789@hotmail.com.
If you are a new or returning OO awardee, please contact me to reserve a space for your vehicle.
Please don't PM me - I may miss it.
Several of you asked about what is happening mid-week. Because the area is rich in sightseeing opportunities, there is an abundance of tour activities to be enjoyed - car oriented or otherwise. One of the highlights of the Convention will be a Wednesday evening private, POCI-only tour of the Battlefield Museum & Visitor Center. Thousands of people go through there every week - here's a chance to enjoy the artifacts, the world famous Cyclorama painting from the 1800's, and a documentary film - all without the hassle of a big crowd.
So there's more than a simple car show. The local host chapters are busting their butts to make sure you have a good experience.
Hope to see you there!

We have less than a month before the Pontiac HOF voting ends. You all should have received several e-mails throughout these past months about how to vote. Thank you to all of those who voted. This will mean a lot to the inductees. For those of you who haven't... the magic cutoff date is June 15th. Go to http://pontiacpreservationassociation.org/contact.php and sign up. You will receive an e-mail to vote. In the meantime, check out the nominees and read about their lives and what they meant to Pontiac. http://pontiacpreservationassociation.org/

I will be attending this years show and presenting the awards to the inductees. Check out how the HOF display is being transported...

I just voted in the Hall of Fame Poll earlier today, it is very easy to do and only takes a few minutes. Some really touch choices there! All great picks.

If I just show up on Saturday, is there some type of show I can participate in, or will I be treated as a spectator forced to find some place to park my car away from the activities ? I have never attended and not sure what to expect. It is close enough to me to attend, however I dont want to drive for a couple of hours to be turned away.

I believe you can still do a self guided tour using your car radio

You can purchase a Gettysburg Field Guide with CD's. Normally will take a few hours to do the self driving tour. It starts from the Visitor Center. It is very good.

Thanks. When we were there for first POCI convention I dont remember going on a tour. Last real tour ,our family went in 1963. Went to the 'lighted map' auditorium inside. Then just looked at different sites. There was a nice detailed scaled battlefield in a older bldg. Next question will be, good places to eat?

There are many places to eat so I guess it depends on what you like and what you want to spend. The pub on the square is good. The Dobbin house is also good. If you like pizza I would recommend Tommy's Pizza or if you like Italian La Bella Italia. Not sure where you are staying but the Application Brew Company at the Host hotel is also good and they have a second location in town off of Steinwehr Ave... Hope this helps
