Excellent, thank you!

Default Primer

Its only epoxy primer and there is a lot of surfacing, blocking and sanding ahead but at least the metal work is complete and getting closer to paint
Doors and trunk gaps are perfect too.

Body work continues
As that is happening I installed the engine and trans on the frame and installed my new Gardner exhaust.
I hope to fire up the engine for the first time this weekend.

Great thread. Your body guy and yourself have a ton of talent and are doing a first rate job, IMO. That car will be a knockout when completed. I've had 9 first-gen GTO's, and never, ever had one with high back seats. I'm jealous!!

Nice pipes! Gotta ask, is that cool glass complementary with the exhaust? Nice little perk if it is.

Thanks. Its been a busy few months of just metal work but finally have it in high build 2k surfacer and all blocked out
It took 3 rounds of surfacer and long blocking to make the body perfect and straight.

Thanks, I use Gardner Exhaust. Their systems are factory correct with hangers, clamps, resonators and the 2 different size mufflers too

The Glass is just a gift that comes with every system. A nice touch since T shirts and stickers aren't my thing

Test fired up the engine and It started on the second crank attempt as soon as I had fuel up to the carb.
With the exception of a minor upper radiator hose leak and a transmission cooler line leak it ran just perfectly for 20 mins at 2000 RPM
Sounds great with the Gardner exhaust too.

Its been over a month since I posted but it doesn't mean I stopped working.
Since my last post I transported my running chassis to my body man and mated the body to the chassis

I didn't go back and read all the posts and my mind is a steel trap. Anything that gets in can't get back out so what colors are you using?

Looking great! Did you cover your entire frame with plastic before bringing the body down to protect it from overspray?

Yes Karl,
My plan was to use a mattress bag you get at any hardware store nut I found out it was harder to roll the car into it then i thought. I had a few covers from Inline Tube that they sell. The are clear with elastic around the bottom so i covered the frame before setting the body on it
When I get the energy I will crawl under the car and tie each side to each other with string so the bottom is almost air tight too.

Smart idea. I think I'll do something similar with my project.

Originally the plan was to paint it on a body cart like my previous project but this car had so much metal work we wanted to put it back on the frame just to make sure all the door gaps, trunk gaps and front sheet metal would line up.
We don't want to take it off the frame now, The car will be painted with the deck lid on and doors on. Hood, fenders and all little bolt on parts will be off like the photos below
