Default '62 Catalina Fuel Tank Replacement

Looking for feedback from anyone who has purchased a new fuel tank. Based on my limited research only Auto City or OPGI offer reproductions for my '62 Catalina. Not looking for anything custom, just OE.

If an original will work I can check and see if the new owner of my Catalina has the original available. I removed it for a cell years ago. He might be racing at Atco tomorrow.

I haven't purchased one, but I've seen them on display at an Auto City Classic booth at a car show. It looked like a quality piece to me.

I bought a few things from them years ago, but thought they'd gone out of business. Glad to see they're still around. https://www.classiccarautoparts.com/...egory/pontiac/ They have a tank listed on their website, although I wonder if it's the same one that comes from Auto City Classic.

I purchased a repo 5-6 years back for a 62 GP. No issues with it. Can't remember for certain where I purchased it but am thinking Auto City.

Looks like Auto City is the only supplier for the '62. Thanks for the feedback.

Called OPGI based on their write-up in the catalog claiming higher quality over other suppliers. Rep was not sure of their source but a call to Auto City confirmed that they are the only one. Delivered price from AC was $289 while OPGI wanted $422. Quite a makeup but not surprising based on all of their advertising.

Bumping this to ask a question.

Can someone measure the distance between the "dimples" in the top of your 61-64 tank? I am curious to know if it matches the spacing on the late 50s tanks.

There are no reproduction tanks for a '57, so am contemplating buying and modifying a 61-64 tank as it seems the closest in configuration.

Thanks.

Here is the gas tank with the dimension you wanted. Let me know if more is needed as I still have the old tank. You can have the old one as I will probably recycle it soon. At least we live in the same state if you want to take a drive.

Getting in a little late here but has anybody used the 61-64 gas tank from Pontiac Paradise? They have the tank straps and sending units also.

I bought a '61-'64 tank from Auto City for my '63 Catalina in 2012 for $334 shipped and it fit like the original.

I have one from Auto city and it is identical to my original (61) also they used my original sending unit for their clone. Sent me two back as payment, haven't used it yet so don't know how accurate it is.

Thanks for the offer and the dimension. I assume this tank is swiss-cheesy too?

While tempting, I will pass on the offer. I am going to see if I can get through this summer with another round of JB weld on the tank, and then have a SS one made up in the fall.

Cheers,
