Dealer invoice question
I got my PHS docs today for my 78 TA and reading down through the dealer invoice I noticed a couple of things were not on there. I didn't see anything for the trans auto or manual, mine is a 4-speed and does have the car VIN. on the trans but no MM4 option code on the invoice. I also didn't see anything for the Hurst Hatches and no WY9 option code on the invoice. I did see the W72 code on the invoice and I do have the car VIN. on my WC block which was the main thing I wanted to see on the invoice, but why wouldn't the other two items be on the invoice? Would they be on the window sticker I didn't order that. Any ideas thanks in advance.

I just got one for my 78 w72 4 speed car earlier this week. I researched a little and I don't think the invoice will show as much as the original build sheet would. I'm not sure why they didn't detail things more on the dealer invoice. My 4 speed option and T-tops were not listed either. Maybe they were no extra cost options and were just not listed on the invoice? I'm not 100% sure.

Depending when your car was built or ordered with W72, the Auto may have already been dropped leaving no other option for it but the manual listed.

A buildsheet would show all options even no cost ones.

Ok John so a TA going down the line designated to be a 4-speed and T-Top car to be bought for say dealer inventory and not ordered by a customer would look like my invoice does. Then the build sheet would show it because the auto workers would have to of known how the car was to be built. So would it be right to say that a number of cars were drop shipped from the plant to Hurst for the T-Top conversion and then on to the dealership? I've had no luck with a build sheet so far the interior has already been out of this car and reinstalled unlike the yellow 77 I sold. Thanks

I thought about that Aus but mine was built when you could still get either one. Thanks

If it was sent to Hurst there is usually another Dealer code/zone on it, which represents Hurst.

Here you go John. I've tried several times to get the pic to rotate and then to repost I can't get it done.

Search under the front seats for a build sheet.

Thanks for the PHS.
I don't see where it was sent to Hurst. The PHS forms are different than from the earlier ones. Possibly 2 PHS' or invoices were created with this being the final one. Possibly the T-tops were dealer installed? Is the rear a disc brake one? Hopefully you can find the build sheet.

Hope Rocky chimes in. Need someone who has had access to all the '78 Sales Bulletins to derive when the 78 W72 400 orders were no longer being taken, & when builds with either engine ceased.

Just throwing this out there and seeing if it sticks...
Upper left side, above INVOICE TOTALS, there is DEALER ORDER NO, COLOR, SOS... Would the 2 mean WY9??? Never mind, looked it up, SOS = sold or stock If your invoicing shows cruise control, you definitely had an auto trans. otherwise no cost substitution won't show.

I was sure you were correct with what you posted earlier, the remark on the CC was for other readers.
For the '78 TA, an auto. trans. would have 3.23:1 rear gears and the 4 speed would have 3.42:1. And the 4 speed trans. code for the TA would have been M21, not MM4.

Gen2guy, can you post a pic of the cowl tag?
According to Rocky's book, the Hurst Hatch wasn't available for the Van Nuys cars. (at least in your time frame) Your car is blue correct? On your PHS, what does it say under the Dealer Order #?
