The next stop was Albuquerque and I got there Saturday morning where I stayed with my sister who owns a Cardinal red '70 455 ht. I built this car for her about 12 years back, it was the year she graudated high school. We took sone pics of us together. My nephew also lives there.
Sat night we met up with a bunch of the members of the Albuquerque GTO club at Rudys Barbeque on Coors. It was very nice of them to come out to meet me.

After a few days in Albuquerque, it was time to head on towards home. I stopped in Gallup for a bite to eat at Blakes lotaburger.

Steve, those state-line pictures you posted (Arizona/N.M. I-40) were eye openers for me. My wife and I stopped there when we made our cross country drive in '05. We remember the little shops and the campy figures mounted on the rock walls. Actually a pretty cheesy spot, but still a nice memory from our trip.
If anyone else following Steve's adventure can make a similar cross country trek, DO IT! It's not cheap, but it is well worth it.
One more pic..Albuquerque GTO club (hope you don't mind)

I couldn't agree more, I have a 76 trans am and drive it as much as I possible can, rain or shine. I love the feel ,smell ,noise and most of all the thumbs up and people pointing and waving.

I see this old thread was dug up. It was a fun trip a dozen years back. Yes, still have the 72 455HO WW5 GTO for about 35 years now. Mileage? getting closer and closer to 500,000. probably in the next year or 2.
Next trip? heading to Norwalk on Tues. Yes, I will still be towing. Will have a vending space in the midway area promoting my 22nd annual Pontiac Heaven weekend here in Arizona Nov 1-3 as well as my museum project here in Az. stop by and say hello. The GTO will still be in primer though. Had hoped to paint her before the trip but, still a lot to do first.
Face Book- Pontiac Heaven now with almost 22,000 followers
take care

I just would like to wish everyone a nice Christmas season! My '72 455HO WW5 GTO is still my primary transportation. Owned since 1984 and I still drive it all over and tow with it, etc. One day, it will be restored and part of my Pontiac Heaven museum here in eastern Arizona. Have had some health issues so, did not drive it for 6 weeks earlier this year but, still put just over 30,000 miles on her from Sept '19- Sept '20. I just never tire of this great GTO and want to drive it every day. take care out there.

Merry Christmas Steve. I love my "71 455 HO for the same reasons - it is such a fun car to drive and it runs and rides great. I don't put near the miles on mine that you have yours, but it has made some great road trips. Longest was from Atlanta to Dayton in 2009 for the Co-Vention.

Thanks for the reply and Christmas wishes. I may not have mentioned it but, besides owning my 72 455HO GTO since 1984, I have also owned a 1971 GTO 455HO since 1981! That was my first 12 second car back in 1983. It is Canyon Copper with Sienna int. One day, Lord willing, both will be restored and sit next to each other in my Pontiac Heaven Museum.
Merry Christmas everyone!
