I'm hoping to keep it. I'm going to have to ditch the underseat heater but it would be nice to keep a heater. There have been times it's nice.

Thinking though.......I have the motor out of the 61. I was going to cut this one down but if I could adapt the 61, this one would be available. I'll have a look tomorrow.

Mostly just a shameless bump. Bonneville on it's way to Kentucky. The 389 is almost back together and ready to set in place but I'll wait until I get it all painted for pics.

A bit more done. Almost ready to place the engine in place to mount up. I have the suspension measured up but the rear mounting bolts were worn pretty bad so I'm waiting on the new set to get here. I went ahead and ordered new fronts also and new shackles.

A little further. I found a crack in the intake manifold and none of my buddies said they had any experience welding aluminum so off it went. I should have it back tomorrow. The bellhousing and transmission should be set to mount back this week and then it will set it all in place to figure out how to mount it. I think we about have it figured out.

I had to buy new rear/front spring mounting bolts. I'd say they were probably the most expensive bolts I've ever bought.

I would have preferred a tunnel ram dual 4 but it's not in the budget right now and no one is giving them away.

Hope you've read the various posts over on the street forum about clearance between the water pump impeller and the divider plate. Getting it right solves overheating problems before they occur.

I'm talking to myself but any suggestions are always appreciated. Put together for fitment. (no clutch etc installed).

Setting in appx place. Will sit a little higher which is good for header clearance. Passenger side is no problem as far as motor mount. I'll be using a stock mount and make a bracket. On drivers side..........not quite enough room so I'm thinking using a Hurst type thing except I only need a few inches forward. Steel flat bar attacked to factory mount run a little forward to a bracket on this side.

The wire mess and firewall will be cleaned up after fabrication. I'm thinking I'm just going to have to buy a generic set of fenderwell headers, a Pontiac flange and cut to fit. I should have enough room with the engine raised to clear the steering box. Around the column might be a little interesting.

O.K. Here is the way it's going to go in. Hopefully tomorrow we will get the crossmember fabbed. I got rid of the factory rear mount idea because as it ends up it would have interfered with the clutch set up.

I bought a mount for the Mucie and We are going to make a small crossmember and Mount it there.

The engine will be raised appx 4 more inches to give a little more clearance for the headers.

Looks good, I might have mentioned before but I flattened the flange at the bottom of the firewall to have a little more clearance when I raised my engine. I had my engine pretty far back though, if your a little more forward than me might be ok without it.

Yeah, I don't think I will be going that far back. The set back will be close to stock but it will be higher. The 4 speed gives me a bit more room also.

O.K. A little more done. This will mount in the X frame just behind the holes for the exhaust pipes with the transmission mounted to it. I was hoping to get a pic of it painted and installed but this will have to do for now.

Yes, but one thing at a time. As soon as we get the front mount made it's on to the suspension and cutting the rails. I'm trying not to get ahead of myself and have to re-do anything.

Front mount tacked up. Tomorrow we will finish it up (cut and curve the ends) and hopefully start on the suspension.
