In the Mopar world, that doesn't happen.

And it doesn't happen in the office either, where there's always one Prep wearing a pink shirt.

Restore it to Pink Mist, and put a Mary Kay decal in the rear window. Tell 'em it's one of a kind.....

Right. I also think it's a Mary Kay Cosmetics car. I was in the hunt to buy a Mary Kay Pink '62 GP...neat story but a pretty limited market for this if restored to OEM specs.

As an aside, I worked for Pontiac in '91-'92 and we received a MK Grand Prix.

Ok, I believe you guys when you say Panther Pink is completley different...but what is it that makes it different? I know it's a slightly different hue but I submit that it's the ATTITUDE that comes with the car. It's badass in any hue and everybody knows it.
My position is that you could make that GTO project the same image...if you wanted to...and I think it could be done. I can picture it now, black interior, radically tuned RAII mill, 4spd, Endura bumper and hideaways, black steelies and poverty caps...
My God...I'm almost tempted to do it!....lol

No numbers for color till 1970.

But if you want some Mopar FM3 numbers, I have those. :-)

The only old Mary Kay car I found was a pink 1970 Cadillac de Ville.
Also searched for "Playmate of the year" cars but no Pontiac GTO`s there.A lot of info on the web about pink "giveaway" cars.Nancy Sinatra`s pink Firebird,a pink AMX etc, etc.

Don't forget the Firebird....all very Mary K ish.

What makes the Dodge different? The stripes.

Has anyone here ever, ever seen a pristine Pontiac in pink?
We've all seen Mopars like that but no one has ever had the nerve to do it with a Pontiac.....so we have this image of a washed out, dull finished pink car with a trashed interior. That's what has hurt green Pontiacs so much in my opinion. For years no one wanted to repaint them in their original color.
Add the stripes if you want to Boss.

Just to be clear, you guys know Mary Kay has nothing to do with this Pontiac, right?

I think the FM3 Mopars (F= 1970, M=color, 3=shade) are a bit less girly in our perception of the femininity of pink. It's more magenta or fuchsia than outright pink. Plus, both Dodge and Plymouth offered fluorescent stripes:

The Pontiac pink, on the other hand, doesn't necessarily scream a non-conformist in-your-face in the same manner - it looks like a color I'd order for my wife or daughter as a surprise gift.

FM3 is a High Impact color like FC7 Plum Crazy/In Violet, so it also has that going for it, not to mention there's a cultural component where the Mopar folks gravitate to the color for one reason or another (perhaps like how people in general gravitate to what's popular).

There are no numbers to show the distribution, but it seems a high number of FM3 cars were sold new in Canada.

I for one would love to own that GTO aside of the fact there are other GTOs I'd prefer, but I think it's good for this car to be in the hands of someone who preserves its pedigree.

Yeah, I admit that I chose the washed out example above because it's a little closer to pink. The high impact Panther Pink is quite a bit removed from the Pontiac hue...but I'd still like to see one done with attitude, rather than the Mary Kay theme with white interior, white top and full wheelcovers with whitewalls that we always picture.

Would the pink GTO bring any kind of premium 100% done? The car in the original ad just screams "instant upside down"
