Ballast resistor
Have seen American autowire mention a 74-78 with Ballast resistor. I have now seen one on the back of a coil on a '74. I have my doubts about its originallity. The resistor wire and the balalst resistor are hampering the Petronix. Anyone seen a factory Ballast resistor in a '74 Points Ign. Firebird? ( V-8)

No ballast resistor on GM vehicles of that era. Only the resistor wire with points. There was no need with HEI, since they received full battery voltage.

The "resistor wire" from harness is Black, Not yellow , and has 12.6 volts. Someone put a Napa coil in it that said it had to have a ballast resistor. This has limited the petronix. Maybe I should rip into the harness deeper. Thanks Canam
