1968 Rubber part mystery
I'm putting together my 68 Tempest and have a 27" piece of "L" shaped rubber I can't identify. It looks like it could have been a baffle to seal the bottom of the radiator to the core support. Unfortunately my reproduction core support doesn't have any holes that match to the rubber and my original is long gone. Any one recognize it?

Yes, your guess is correct. Baffle below radiator. Just measured mine at 27”. Fits between lower radiator support brackets.

cool, thanks
I guess the repo core support needs some holes. I have to figure that one out since i don't have the original to reference. I actually have an extra rubber piece since I had at one time two damaged core supports. One on the left and the other one the right. I decided to opt for the "universal" 68-70 with some modification. Can you tell me if it is centered or place fore or aft? |

I just looked at my 31k 68 LeMans and I'm not seeing this baffle. Radiator has never been out of the car. Was it just for AC cars? Or maybe you don't see it unless you remove the radiator?

I don't know but the AC cars seem to have a little more attention paid to sealing the open areas around the radiator..
