Legendary 71 deluxe door panels
Couple questions,
Black 71 Deluxe Interior.... I am using NOS comfort weave for the seats, Legendary said they can’t use the NOS comfort weave for the door panels, will it stand out like a sore thumb? I also have NOS inner window sweeps. How are legendary repop sweeps compared to NOS inner sweeps? If I don’t use the NOS 08808230 and 08808231 inner sweeps what are they worth? Thanks, Stan |

why would they not use it for the door panels - that seems very odd.

They said something about the way they heat seal it?

Inwould assume they do the exact same thing done back when new... maybe the age of the NOS material means it reacts differently (read: not as desired) than it did when new??
1970 deluxe seats and door panels also used comfortweave...

It won't stand out like a sore thumb for sure.
Here is my 71. Has nos seat covers and nos comfortweave. Door panel on driver side is original. Have legendary on passenger side. No one can tell difference. The staples on weatherstripping is also spot on.

Am having a hard time with this too. Have a very nice pair of original black '71 comfort weave door panels as well as seats.
Having owned multiple dozens of '68-71 Pontiacs with original comfort weave seats, as well as half a dozen '70 Birds with factory dlx interiors. Have also had several good friends with original comfort weave interior in their '69 Camaro's & Corvettes. it's a 100% certainty that GM had two different styles of original comfort weave, but the only factory use so far that I've ever noted of the "fake" comfort weave was in dlx interior '70 Birds, at least sandalwood & black trims, i do not have original bright blue '70 seat covers to examine.

Original 70 bright blue comfort weave is an actual weave, not heat stamped.
It's funny how with todays technology, companies can't replicate product from decades ago -- just doesn't make sense. |

Ok, next question. Are the “stamped comfort weave” solid, ie not perforated?
I have a piece I removed from an original blue 71 front seat and when held up to a light you can see through it. Tiny little holes. It matches the Black sample SMS sent me 100% I would say just looking at it my 71 is woven. |

Here is a pick of the original 71 blue. I can see strands on the edge.

Stamped comfort weave is perforated. They just take the woven vinyl and heat stamp it to put the lines in it.

Anyone have a pic like I posted of “real” comfort weave?

I have a pair of '70 dark brown seats in my garage;
I ambpretty sure it is for sure real weave - and not a stamped pattern. why would some be real, and others be fake?

I have never seen any original comfortweave in a 69-71 Pontiac that was NOT perforated. The correct perforated comfortweave material had been reproduced for years in China until the 3 machines ceased to operate any longer. 2 were actually destroyed in a fire in the 80's. Any supposed "NOS" comfortweave material or seat covers sold as NOS for the past 3 decades were most likely old PUI seat covers or material left over.
I do agree on the inability to reproduce the correct comfort weave today. Hard to believe that someone cannot do it! Perhaps SMS has actually found a source to accurately reproduce that material today? Hard to imagine that they have that much old material left today? Here are few pics of my car that i;m restoring. Interior is o.e. Samples I show are Al Knock's samples. The paint stick and card are samples of my color match that I mixed to spray some of the areas of interior.
I think Al Knock does the bright Blue door panels in Deluxe also. He definitely does the seats. |

DLD,
Can you hold the sample of the comfort weave up to the light and take a pic like I did with my original so we can see the perforations? |

first are seats , second door panel, third Al Knock sample
None look to be perforated the panels and seats are assembled so can't hold to light. |
