Default 1977 Can Am with T Tops?

I saw this on craigslist and was wondering if T-Tops were a legit GM option.

http://cosprings.craigslist.org/cto/3546204535.html

Thanks!

They were not installed at the Pontiac factory. They were usually dealer installed. Still rare to see a Can Am such equipped.

That car was in a fenced in gravel lot in Houston TX for years amd the owner wanted a rediculous price for it. It finally dissappeared about 3 years ago.

My old project Can Am also had T tops that were installed by Sun Pntiac in Mesa Arizona when the car was new. They were American brand T tops.

Those T-tops make it even more unique. Price doesn't seem out of bounds considering the extra parts.

I believe the T-top manufacturer was ASC, but it could have been American Hatch.

The link below says the '75 Hurst Olds "Hurst Hatches" were actually made by ASC.

Here's a pic of the 1977 ASC ad showing applications for G-bodies...

Its funny that the can-am thats pictured in post 1 sure looks like the same
car in the pontiac on line t-top thread/link adv. for American t-top posted above.

Note both pics have the paint rust, missing shaker box in the hood, and both
front ends are nose high like missing a engine.................

Same car?

Yes, they are the same cars. The two T-top Can Ams in my article are the two that I mentioned above.

Here Here. I just "relearned T-Top details" that I'd forgotten and more than I ever knew to start with.

Thanks for the post and the page. I just gave this thread a 5-Star rating for future reference...
