Default Code 11 Cameo White

Hi - I have a '79 in Cameo white, Code 11. Was wondering for those with a Cameo white car around that timeframe, can you describe it? My car has been painted I know for sure and it looks like a "bright white". Maybe they used a Corvette paint shade which should be different since they're two different codes.

Recently had a quart mixed for code 11 and it came out slightly off white, almost a pearl but without the metallic in it. Wondering which is more factory correct? Obviously hard to do a Google search as computer screens change colors and hoping for first hand experience. Thanks in advance for any opinions!

Hello I have a code 11 78 TA. My car is approx 70% original paint. The white is definitely bright to me . I had to fix some lower door damage etc and I also decided to do the firewall yrs ago. The mix I got was spot on. There’s definitely no pearl look to it. The mix u have as described is probably off. A very good body guy I know cringes at trying to match white paint. It takes a trained eye to get it right.

Interesting. I heard/read black is hard to match but makes sense for white given the trouble I am having. I will try to post a pic too. The hood and fender are just a tinge off. Like you said wonder if was also a formula thing since the computer to find the color couldn't go back too far

Question did u have a part scanned , .The technology is amazing but not always 100% . You are correct on going back to records 40-50 yrs ago . The brand of paint can affect the shade etc. I actually remove a spoiler end cap and from there the paint was mixed . Ironically it was a younger lady who did it . She was well known to have a great eye and get the formulas down.

I used to have a '77 T/A Cameo white. It is not bright white. Hard to describe.... maybe it has just a faint whiff of brown?? I didn't realize it wasn't bright white until I parked it next to a '70 T/A

I didn't, just provided the code and year. What's making it harder, car was repainted 30 years ago, had a small engine fire, hood repainted a year after repaint and hood doesn't match the car. The quart I got matches the hood but not rest of the car..

Yes- that is a way better description than mine. It is a nice clean white but a shade off.

I have a 79 Cameo White T/A. When this is next to my 13 Bright White Vette, you can see that the Cameo White is a cream color. I would say that the Bright White is pure white whilst the Cameo is an off white.

The body is still all single stage lacquer with about 80% being from the factory. All of the soft rubber parts like the bumper and spoilers have been painted with modern single stage urethane that holds up better with flexible parts compared to lacquer that tends to crack over time. The urethane paint appears to be a little brighter when viewed with certain lighting. I don't know if it is due to the different base material or if the tinting is a bit off. I have observed that new cars with the factory paint and urethane bumpers also tend to be a little different compared to the neighboring body panels.
