Default Front license plate

Need to mount a license plate on front of car. 67GTO.
Any suggestions on mounting bracket?
I assume not a good idea to screw directly to bumper?

Maybe use plastic hole inserts from parts store?

Usually they are mounted using the square plastic inserts available at most parts stores and standard #14 (1/4 X 3/4) license plate screws. Ames carries them as a set B181

Jeff, those screws look correct for mopars. The correct ones should be a truss head screw.

If you don't mind drilling holes in your front plate you can mount it below the opening in the bumper for better air flow to the radiator....

Default NOS Factory Examples

This license plate package shown below is an NOS 1965 unit.

The Screws, Plastic inserts, and Rubber bumpers are also what’s used to mount the 66-67 front license plate shown in last pic.

Chris.

Thank you, will order from Ames if the parts store set doesn't have the rubber bumpers.

I thought the same thing and just used a couple brackets to drop the plate lower. Worked fine until I caught the plate with the original dealer frame on a steep entry at a local cruise. Shattered the pot metal frame into a half dozen pieces. Now the plate is back up in the stock location and I'm still looking for another dealer frame.

Drag car is still down low but it's just got a cheapy chrome frame that doesn't matter.

So, for '67, they had flutes on the side? Or, was it like this one?

Didn't even notice the flutes on the first one - mine were smooth sided. Here's the remains of mine. I saved the pieces and figured I'd try and maybe epoxy the back side or something.

OK, I don't have that version, but it's nice to put a date on it. My first picture was probably from the '50s. My avatar pic is from the 70's.
