Default my new 63 Grand Prix 421HO 4sp

I introduced this car in the Lobby a week or so ago, a quick rundown before my questions begin.
I have been checking on this car for about 3 years, I called the owner about a month ago and was shocked. He said come and get it.

The car is a 421HO 4 barrel, sometime ago a tripower was added, the intake has the correct part # for 63 but I have no idea about the carbs, do they look correct. How about the whole tripower setup??, right/wrong??? I find no numbers at all on the carbs

Something does not look quite right with the center carb?Looks like the throttle shaft sticks way out on the pass side?Tom

There are numbers on the driver's side of the float bowls just beneath the airhorns. As Tom said the center ccarb should not have that long throttle shaft protruding on the pass' side other than that they look correcr as fr as I can see. The fuel lines are correct for early 60s big car.

The car would have come with vacuum secondaries and that has been removed which is a common, and better, thing.

Yes that is what Tom S. and I were referring to. The end of the shaft shoud be flush with the base on a '63..

Nice car! I had a 1964 tripower setup some years ago, I think the fuel lines look right but I can't guarantee that. Mine had an aftermarket linkage (maybe an Eelco) so I don't know if yours is correct for 1964 or not.

I had a center carb off of a chevy 348 tri power that had a shaft like that with a different style of linkage.

Nice car, keep it factory down to the points distributor and you will have a ball with it..

I wonder why they put a drivers side 421 badge on the passengers side

I would install new control arm bushings front and rear and change the front end alignment to,
-Passenger side, caster positive +2, camber -.5, toe in 1/16..
-Drivers side, caster positive +1.5, camber -.5, toe in 1/16..

Brakes, I would install new linings of the same make front and rear. Try to get Porterfield. Metallic linings run the coolest and will keep those drums from getting warped.. Warping is more of an issue than wear with those drums..

Diamond Back makes the tires for that car.. You can get them with white walls or plain sidewalls with no markings (my favorite) like the old tires.. These tires are modern radials made from new molds but look like the old tires did. They are H78-14 and look perfect with the 14", eight lug Kelsey Hayes wheels..

Congratulations, you own a dream car..

Great car. I have a 63GP I restored back to original with tri-power. The fuel block is correct but the fuel line for the rear carb is incorrect . It should go the way it is going out of the fuel block but goes all the way to the back and around the back of the carb to the fitting.

I checked the other fender, the badge is different. Seems after the paint job the badges got reinstalled in reverse. I never thought that fender badges were side specific

I think that extended shaft may have been for a governor set-up which was common on 2-jets. The splined shaft allowed for clocking the attaching arm. Could be wrong. Great looking car, enjoy.

JMO,you really dont want metalic linings on 8 lugs. They are REALLY hard on the inserts.Im told the best linings come out of Canada and they are soft.Tom

Same concept on a GTO.

Pontiac allowed metallic linings with a cast iron brake drum for heat purposes / stopping efficiency.
They did not offer metallic linings with the GTO aluminum drums as they needed to cool.

I agree the 8 lugs should have a softer lining.

Interesting, Ive seen both ways. Could this be specific to a model, an option thing or build date, or???

Above the fuel tank, under the carpet, behind the door trim panels, under the instrument panel top pad, trapped in the seat spring, above the headliner.
