Question WIW 73 Grand am hood

I have a 73 GA hood in perfect condition and someone wanting to buy it, I was thinking it should be worth a couple hundred in it condition or am I way out of line? No rust or dents at all ready to repaint and install

It could be worth a few hundred if it was a NACA scooped hood. A regular flat hood probably will not be worth too much.

Agree to disagree here. IMO: If someone had a rust free example of a standard GA hood for a 1973 it would be worth several hundred to the right buyers. After all, they don't make them anymore now do they? And the repops will no doubt be the NASA scooped hoods that are not original per your PHS etc. and will become more common than those originally made. I'd be more inclined to do a hole punch for a shaker...

But then again; I'm biased!

Frank,

What repops? There will never be a steel reproduction NACA hood for these cars. Possibly, a flimsy poor fitting fiberglass hood will be available. Sh!t, we can't get the Ram Air parts made.

Surely you jest and are facetiously playing; if not: The Irony here is that the Chebby Camaro guys know what repop means.
AND why the simultaneous dig against Motorealm’s possible attempt to reproduce a NASA glass hood? Ultimately I really don’t care...
Quote:
Re: What ‘s definition of Repop”? Reproduction abriviated is "repro", you'll find a lot of common uses if you google repro.

A slang meaning for "pop" is "to make" as in "I've got it down so that I can just pop out the parts starting next week".

"Repop" is just slang for "to make reproduction" it's based off repro and pop as explained... Repop is also being used in trendy recycling as a shortened version of repurpose meaning to reuse instead of throwing something away...

Hope that helps...

$200-250 should be fair due to condition. Over the years I've sold for a little less money the next style hood in perfect condition to CanAm guys to cut holes in to replace their damaged CanAm hoods. Today, I wouldn't even pull a similar perfect hood out a box for under $200.

It has the two inset scoops, looks like a 73 GTO hood except for the vents in the hood and not the cowl

OK, the '73 GTO hood is the NACA scooped hood, which was available on every LeMans model except Luxury/Grand LeMans. If it has the vents at the base of the windshield, it is an original 1975 hood, or a service replacement. The 1973-74 factory hoods had the vent openings at the base of the windshield opening. These normally sell for $400-$700.

Default NACA hood

FWIW i think they're getting more valuable, i paid $650 for mine in very good condition -- saw someone on PY a few months ago listed one for $950 which is nuts/greedy, $500-$700 is about the range i've seen as well....

A friend sold one in show-car condition (perfect condition top and underneath with perfect inserts) for $1200. That's the highest price I've seen. Price depends highly on condition.

I agree with Norm. The black GT stripes would look great on that car.

Default 73 hood?

Actually that picture is a 73 hood, unless is could be a very earlier production model of the 74. It looks like it has the vents at the bottom of the hood.
