Lots of people would care - he may easily get that for the 75 Camaro...

I think it's actually a pretty nice looking car.

You're user name is coincidental regarding this comment. More people will care about a mid 70's F-body over a similar vintage GM Full Size.

My brother-in-law bought one exactly like that off of the show room floor. I always liked the paint scheme. There also was a yellow/black one in the area.
We had a lot of fun in that car going around to the local, and some out of state, tracks for late model stock car races.
The second gen F-bodies are starting to bring in decent prices for nice examples.

$20k for a '75 Camaro? Not gonna happen, not on any planet I live on. That might be an $8-10k car at best.

What's with the insults? Nobody is making any such comparisons, I'm just speaking about the market for mid-70s Camaros, and it sure as hell ain't that strong.

Oh, I like the car, a bit overpriced, but wouldn't kick it out in the rain. I was just wondering how the seller came up with the 7000 built, since I don't think Chivvy has anything like Marti, or PHS.

IIRC Its the first year of the Restart of the Z22, and they used a damn truck towing RPO to do it ( Z85) . Z-28 was Ditched, so this was a top dog Camaro.
The Market is SUBJECTIVE. It has a 12-15 k Base value, but IF someone likes the Paint and driveline, they would pay more for it.
It Costs 5-8K to put a Correctly done and NICE paint job on a rust free car..That is gutted and ready . . But people that want to minimize all that Block sanding will call it a "respray".
It looks as Good as it gets for a 75 Camaro.
Toss a well done overdrive in it and AC, and a whole new market opens up.
PS this rig has headers, I have to wonder if the reverse lights work.. Usually they dont.
I failed many cars for state inspection for this at the Pontiac dealer I worked at.

Um, yes, in my locale that car will sell for a price within $2500 of his asking price. I also wonder how the owner came across the 7k figure as well.

As for the "insult" part, you kicked it off with the broad side "why would anyone care". Go cry to a moderator about me you 'know it all'

Note where the car is - South Bend, Indiana (Planet Earth). Rust is a big issue there, so a rust free vintage Camaro would not have any issues pulling double what you think it should in Nevada. I suspect if that car was in New England it would be even higher than 20k

I used to get really turned off by a paint scheme like that. But now I realize that it's the whole package, which is greater than the sum of its parts. Is the handling potential far superior in the 2nd gen cars? I've never owned one.

All 2nd gen handle nicely, but handling packages with sway bars and such wake them up. I took mine up here yesterday, huggin' rock walls, switchbacks, and dodging over centerline incomings

That's completely absurd, if true. Those Camaros are $5k cars all day long in the SF bay area and there's lots of them. Worth even less here. Why on earth would someone spend $20k on the same car in Indiana than they could buy for $7k after shipping and a plane ride from the bay area? Just nonsensical.

I tried to help my neighbor sell his '79 last year and got no interest whatsoever at $5k, for a driver that needed work. Looked around, found a whole spectrum of cars in various conditions, none of which were selling for even close to $20k. I just have no idea why anyone would pay that much for a basic worst of the breed Camaro.

Jesus, you are an awfully testy SOB, aren't you? Calm down, you're making yourself look bad. It's embarrassing for you. Nobody insulted you, nobody is crying, so get over yourself.

Perhaps you missed the context of my comment - Why would anyone care how many were made? I wasn't disparaging anyone here, I was disparaging the seller of that Camaro for trying to make something of nothing to make his car seem more valuable. It's a bland Camaro in a bland body style with a bland Chevy 350 in it, and a terrible paint scheme. It's a dime a dozen car that few people are looking for, especially at that price. Most people are not going to want that car in that paint scheme. All red or all black? Yeah, that'd be a seller. Not with that terrible paint.
