Sounds like we are in the same predicament. I got my 66 GTO last march and im in the midst of getting it restored. I pulled the engine last summer and restored it at school. Its all original except for the Lunati 490/490 lift cam and the 2 3/4 in Hedman headers. Cost for rebuild was about $500. The Goat's goin into the bodyshop in 4 weeks and the cost will set me back 10-13k. What really sucks is 95% of that is for labor.

Slgenge, When you get that panel, if you replace it yourself, can you take some pictures while you do it? The bottom ledge under my rear window is rusted on as well and will need to replaced. Curious how those go in, not much experience with a welder. Nice pictures, your frame looks nice.

Icoz31, one of the best moves you made, was to fine this place right here. The people are really great at helping with questions as well as solving problems you may come across. But, the most wonderful help they give, is something no amount of money can buy. They help you keep your dream alive. And, without that dream the project would just end up becoming another persons dream.
So, keep thinking about what your car will be like and how much pirde and enjoyment you'll have once it's done. Money of course is always a factor in anything we decide to do in life. But if you don't lose sight of the oblagations you have to yourself and family. Then, this is as good a place to invest your hard earned dollars. And, unlike some hobbies such as collecting Beanie Babies, the Pontiac's will always be wanted by others who enjoy fine cars. Enjoy the project, and keep your dream alive. Best wishes.
