Default Clutch Block BOP PCB80

Anyone out there have luck installing this clutch block that allows you to use a 65-79 bellhousing with original clutch linkage (https://www.bopengineering.com/ponti...l_size.shtml)? This block bolts to later bellhousings providing a pivot point for the clutch.

My Pop and I are working on his 61 Catalina which has a 1965 421 HO. He had a homemade clutch linkage/z-bar in the car which had an extremely high pedal effort and knife edge action. We are hoping to use this block and get the original linkage back in the car in attempt to make the clutch easier to operate.

We can see that the clutch fork from the 61 won't work with the later bellhousing but any other tips you may have would be great.

I sort of remember swapping later/simpler linkage into my Bonneville. But if BOP has it then probably works. Did you call them? Check with PC, what's he putting in the Gran Prix.

After consulting with BOP and Pontiac Paradise, we decided to use a 63 z-bar setup with the threaded BOP clutch block. Will post back here after we receive and install the parts. Thanks for the feedback!

You mean this block. Used a Pontiac head bolt with studded head.

By all means ditch that 61/62 clutch linkage and use 63/4 parts. Much cleaner, works beautifully and simple as pie. Don’t know what engineers were thinking when they came up with 61-2 linkage!
Just my 2 cents!!

Thanks again everyone. We got the linkage done and clutch adjusted this weekend. It works great and the effort and feel is way better than the homemade setup my Pop had in place. We used new parts from Fabcraft, BOP and Pontiac Paradise. The rod through the firewall and the z-bar are 63 design. We used the threaded BOP block bolted to the bellhousing. Push rod from the z-bar to the clutch fork is short but it works. Pictures attached.

I did a bellhousing swap 65-79 in a 1964 GP with 73 455 Block. installed the BOP Clutch block
Using the 64 ZBar. The issue I am having is the ZBar seems to be a little to wide when I try to
install it. Im wondering if the ZBar bracket needs to be removed, install the Zbar ball stud into
the BOP adapter, slip the ZBar over and then bolt the bracket back on the frame?
Anyone have any issues with install?
Also looks like I will need to cut the arm off the ZBar and move it towards the engine to get it
to line up with the clutch fork. Also change the clock position of the arm to allow a little more
room for the rod between arm and clutch fork

Any help appreciated
Thanks, Rich
