Well sorry it cost you to get it figured out,
But an education is always expensive and as SB said it is a common mistake.

When I was aproched about buying my LeMans back in 1983 the owner wanted $800, he went on to talk about all the work he has done.
I then asked if it ran, his face went blank and he reluctantly answered no.
I then asked him what the issue was and he said he couldn't get it to start after putting in a cam, back then I knew nothing about the OHC, I didn't even know they existed so I told him that if wanted 800 that he'd have to get it running. About two weeks later he called wanting to know if I was still interested. He went on to say he could never get it to run and would sell to me for $400 turned out to be the timing was 180 out
True story.

Best of luck and keep us posted.
Cheers

Good story, Jeff. HaHa. But ain't no one getting my car for cheap! It's funny, we've already dumped a bunch of money into this thing but it's our baby and my son loves the car. That and the learning experiences are what this hobby is all about.
