I ahve a 73 catalina.. I'd like to upgrade to a posi unit.. I'd like to keep the axle though.. will a Posi unit from ANY BOP ear end work in my rear axle? or is there a specific selection of cars that will have a unit to fit my car? Also.. how much power can I feed into this unit before needing to seriously upgrade from that. Thanks!

Ok.. I found a posi unit, but need to know if it will work in my rear.. it's from a 72 bonneville 8.5" 10 bolt rear with C-clips. Anyone know if my rear end is an 8.5 or an 8.2" and if it is a C-clip type rear end?

Thanks!!!

Generally any '71 thru '76 B-body GM will interchange. Those are Caprice, Bonneville/Catalina, Delta 88, ... Some C body like Delta 98 might be different. C body like Buick Electra seem to have the same looking 8.5 rear though.
As far as ring gear diameter, it seems like cars with 400-2bbl or larger engines got the 8.5" but cars with 350 engines got a smaller one.
Too bad you're hours away. I have some posi's I'd sell $45 or so for those cars. I just parked my '73 Catalina so don't need a huge parts stockpile anymore.

Mike--do you know who would have seat covers for a 73 with split bench seat? PY only goes up to 72
