I guess then I can assume that it is a factory ice by the fold and welds. When I bought this one the seller had two that looked exactly the same and claimed that he had been saving them for many years? Not sure why they would want to paint them black? I am going to blast it and use it.

Some SR parts were painted opposed to some OEM un-painted parts but can't say for sure this would be the case.
Besides when hoarders hang onto parts for 45+ years they will likely end up getting rusty.

I have an NORS and it has some sort of clear coat on it which has some scratches on it.
Even new they don't stay shiny forever.

Blast it and hit with high temp cast iron paint it will look good.

It could be NOS; I had many Pontiac Service exhaust pipes from the 50s and 60s that were painted black.

Are there any installation witness marks on the flanges?

If it's OEM, it will have the GM part number stamped on it somewhere.

Ha ha. Actyally, I was thinking of buying it. It's new and he says that it's designed for better flow. I saw the real NOS one go for 250.00 recently on ebay.

Nothing against Jerry, But that pipe looks like ****.
Not as bad as the funky one Waldron's offers (Below).

The ebay pipes were NORS close but not a folded over 1 pipe piece like the oem.

I guess I'm just hung up on the oem due to how long it took me to re-create the correct factory intended sound, via the Y, Round Muffler, Resonator & Trumpet Tip.

Ive been reproing the Y pipes for about 30 yrs.
I had a guy bending all the pieces and I made a jig to do final assembly and weld.
When done they looked just like OEM except I used 14 ga aluminized .
If I can find someone willing to bend some more pieces I ll make up some more.
trouble is theres 3 different styles and seemed like what ever I had in stock was not what someone needed.
Jeff whats a 66 NOS one worth?

I haven't built them yet, but I did have some 2" tubes with flares/sockets made at a local auto shop, so I need to cut my y-pipe apart to use the clamps from them (unless some one has some available for cheap?). They are straight pipes right now, but I'll weld and hack, etc until I'm sure they'll look similar to the two non-stock ones posted, but I doubt they'll look as uuuhhh refined? lol. I actually had two sets made up, so I have a practice set even.

I'm hoping to have some OHC time this Sunday. I want to finish my EFI fuel rails, install the proper pipe plugs in the head and block, and if I have time start on the cam sensor modifications. I'm not happy with the sensors I got, but I'll make them work.

I have blasted it and it looks great. Not yet coated or painted.

It was never installed as there are no marks or stress on it at all. I will look for the part numbers later this evening. Now I wish I would have bought both of them.
