Default 66 SPRINT BALANCER

Would one of you guys that has a 66 Sprint balancer please post some pics of it for me? A front, side, and back view would be great. Thanks in advance!

Thanks Jeff. Isn't this the one that you posted that you got off a 67 Sprint?

The 66 should have a slightly different inner hub.

The reason Im asking is Im trying to get a second person to verify that the balancer on the right is a 66 Sprint balancer. I know it is, I'm just tiring to get a second source to verify it. I pulled it as well as another one I have from verified 66 sprint motors. The one on the left is from my 67 Firebird Sprint motor. They are basicly the same. Both are 6 3/4 dia dual grove, the only difference is the inner hub on the 67 is 4 3/8 dia and the inner hub on the 66 is 3 3/4 dia. Other than that they are exactly the same. Unfortunately, they didn't cast the part numbers in the 66&67 balancers like they did on the 68&69.

You are correct. I've been sitting on this rusted one for almost a month contemplating using it and only checked the Dia of the overall width and crank snout.

I just checked the HB on my '66 against this rusty one is one indeed a '67 with the larger/wider center hub. (I guess I assumed to much)
This is something I've never noted as never having any '67s to compare.

I will add these dimensions to my notes.

So the smaller center hub is indeed the '66 Damper

Not sure why they wouldn't have numbers but here are the numbers I have on file.
9782289 GM 66’ 4BC
9778551 GM 67’ 4BC

I'll have to mock up this 66 engine project and see if the '67 HB could/would.

Sorry for my oversight.

Thanks Jeff. I had never noticed either until I sit them side by side. I have figured for years there had to be a difference because they had different part numbers while the 68/69 had the same number. Once you know the difference you can see it on allot of factory pics that the balancer is visible on.

One more tidbit of knowledge for us all

Thanks again Jeff
