I watched those too. 4 spd car was a converted automatic. Still both cars seem reasonable but auctions lacked details which could have meant untold issues.

Default 74 sdta

Like i posted earlier did not look into the cars just at basic details and asking price. They look like good drivable cars and that is what they are for anyway. Would love to have either for that kind of money! I would deal with the skeletons in the closet. They all have skeletons at this age!

The irony is both cars are very similar and one coverted transmission only did a bit better. Conclusion: 4 speed conversion don't increase value even with correct parts?

Ok, the first one is an auto converted into a manual, custom interior but standard door panels,...?
The second car looks nicer from a far and non-a/c auto you have to love. Much better buy without seeing them in person.

Both cars were well bought, If indeed they were # matching, looked as good as they showed on the pics, and if they were actually sold. The white sd455 in minneapolis looks good and at a good price if all is as stated in the add. The economy is or will affect most musclecars buyers at some point. This so call recovery that we are supposed to be in, is nothing more than speculation and well wishing. I for one would have bought those 2 sd455 on ebay in a heart beat 2-3 years ago. those cars will regain their value, they are too rare and desirable.

I think if they kept or just tweeked the 73 body style, and added some more colors like a black/gold in 74 it would be a moot point.

Default 74sdta's on EBAY

Why would we assume they did not sell? They were auctions that meet their reserve. As far as seller, buyer and EBAY are concerned they sold. I too thought prices were low that just the reality of selling a car in this economy without reserve at auction. I would assume that is fair auction value right now for those cars.

I got an email from 1 of the sd's sellers stating the car was still for sale the following day. I had emailed him earlier in the week with questions about the car's history. So maybe it did sell, maybe it did not. Still very good prices for both cars. those are 55-65k cars as far as am concerned.

33K is a long way to 65K. So, if you told that to the seller he would sell to you in a heartbeat. Even after the auction ended....

Like I said, if was after the auction ended, The next day. After 5 days of waiting, I decided to purchase a car out of southwest Texas.

I've got a bunch of photos of what I believe is the same car-they were sent to me in March 1988. I don't believe the car was for sale at the time-a guy w/ a 74 SD Formula in NC sent the pictures. Here is what I noticed:

Had Rallye II wheels at the time w/ BF Goodrich Belted TA Radials
Georgia plates "S Duty"
white SD-455 decals on the hoodscoop which was not cut open/underhood appeared all original
Saddle custom interior-aftermarket in-dash radio w/ rear speakers installed, leather wrapped steering wheel
Body side moldings, also has rear window defroster (lines in the window) and an Auburn University decal on the rear window
Rear bumper guards
No Trans Am decal was on the rear spoiler at the time
As someone mentioned-the exhaust extensions turned up and inside

Anyway best of luck with the restoration, looks like a nice solid well optioned SD. Post photos as it progresses.
