I’ll bet KRE made some improvements to them.

Stan- I'm guessing there may be more space-consuming "stuff" to come later in the cam drive area. That's typically why there's no room for the belt there.

The head that Dil is hugging is obviously not a true Hemi head and is nothing like the one KRE posted originally which was a true Hemi head but it would be nice to see how this project is coming along.

You noticed that too, Huh!

Chrysler has made a fortune and several generations of Mopar fans with that one little four letter word for a cylinder head design they didn't even invent! But to play devil's advocate, the Kauffman "hemi" Pontiac looks reasonably close to the current Chrysler "hemi". It's not a real hemi either and hasn't been since it's re-introduction. Would never be able to meet emissions with all that dead space away from the dome created by the design. Hydrocarbons would be off the charts. I imagine the Kauffmans went with the more pent roof chamber to create some mixture motion below 4000 RPM's, where a real hemi sucks big time. I look at it as Kauffman trying to get the best of both designs. No idea if it will work. One guy is about to find out. Good for him. I would have tried to get a second spark plug in there somehow.

Looks like a new improved swirled chamber Hemi head.
Lot like the Dodge Ram truck's 'Hemi' head.

At least not a canted valve BBC/Ford type head.

This is Dil's post that went along with the above pics!

Pontiac HEMI Update: Jeff gave me some info to share with all of you.
Jeff thinks with my 871 blower we'll (easily) make 1,000HP, 1,500 on up to 2,000. The trouble I'm going to have is an overload of torque. With a billet block and a screw charger the heads will make (WELL) over 3000 HP. My iron block can't take 2,000 hp to many times. No trans brake, foot brake only. This thing is going to be wicked with the torque it will make. 1200-to-7000 rpm in a split second.

I think several people are making close to 2000hp and some above that. I'm not aware of block issues.

IA II Iron and Aluminum blocks, (water jacket iron block and solid aluminum blocks). No block related issues at 3000 HP + on 90% nitro at 36 lbs . of boost. This was over a 10 year period beginning at 2200-2500 HP and stepping up from there. I assume this build will be with a Kauffman block since the heads are their work. Should be a great test for their block as well. Best of luck with it. BTW, once the line hone was originally established, the aluminum blocks never required any re-honing. I was especially impressed with this.

Looking at pics of the M/T hemi head and it’s surprising how different they are and how similar they are! Jack Chrisman dragsters won top eliminator so the Pontiac hemi head want too bad!
