Maybe.... I have access to 2 big Pontiac bullets sitting on the ground now...ready to be put in any car..but after showing close to 1100hp on the track and close to 400 runs on a set of head gaskets and close to 500 runs on valve springs I think I might leave the current motor in the car and just put new valve springs on it... I still need to put new tires on the rear of the Dually. The trailer still needs 6 new tires. The car needs new slicks and new front tires. Going to upgrade to some stainless headers too.

How bout you? Are you going to race any this year?

No and no I’m just a broke A$$ racer that can’t afford to keep running a Pontiac motor.

Good Luck with your new motor. Hope you catch up to Brian in the 1/4

I got a set of Race Stars on with drag radials and subframe connectors. So maybe I can actually 60' when the tracks open.

To preserve the truck's pristine finish while hauling fuel, tools, etc., I just finished building a "free standing bedliner" of half-inch plywood. It will mount on four existing bed floor bolts, with 1" space all around and underneath. It's only 53" long, since I already have a weather-tight storage bin across the front 18" of the truck's bed. I still need to fabricate a fitted tarp to cover it- probably with a single removable shallow bow across the middle, to minimize "flapping". It's just under 80 pounds, so two people can easily install/remove it.

That truck is so freaking cool. Can we get a pic under the hood, Pontiac Power style ?
I grew up with a 54 then a 57 Chevy pickups then a 62 Catalina convertible then 66 Catalina station wagon.

finally had some nice weather over the last two weekends and I was able to get back to tinkering on the LeMans. Still have a lot of fitment fine tuning, but baby steps are still forward steps. I'm happy with how everything pulled in tight to get rid of some of the factory gaps, but close one gap, open another.. It will take a while to get it all worked out. Ordered what is hopefully the last of my engine stuff today also, so hopefully can start assembling the 400 in the next week or two. Re used as much from the old 400 as i could, mainly the stock rods and speed pro pistons and rings. After the vibration from the balancer failure cracked my 70 400 block, I sourced one of the dreaded 557 blocks with std bore to bore for $125 to reuse my old stuff. Decked it to use with the cometics also. Had an old rusty 70 N crank turned to replace my bent one. Also decided to go from the .255/262 solid cam to a .247/254 with more lift. Hopefully this will work better with the low rpms i run and the oversized top end. i'm excited to see how it all plays out, they car ran 7.20/30's in the 1/8 with the old set up and a 4.30 gear. We took the 4.30 out and put a 3.70 in for 1/4 mile racing. so im anxious to see ix we can get back the couple tenths we lost with the gear change.
