Torquing head & main studs
I know what I’ve been torquing my heads and mains down to with ARP studs but what is everyone else doing? I use ARP ultra lube on everything, it seems every time I read something its different so I’m curious.

Hey George,
I was reading a lot on YB on what they use on their rod bolts. A top engine builder mention that he does not like how the ultra lube is not slippery enough and u always have to torque it higher than the specified torque. So I bought it and did a test! He is right on the money! Here is the one I use from now on. |

I had a set of Crower rods that came with a little tube of that stuff in the box.

Butler web site says 95 & 85 lbs of torque for Pontiac main studs with ARP lube and on the ARP web site it says 110 lbs of torque for studs.
