Default Did my repair job "fluffing" go too far? "Shark Tank" candidate?

My 46,000 mile '72 Esprit started sticking the left front caliper last Fall. Left it to sit in storage all Winter, so of course it was no better this Spring. Figured this lockdown was a good time to take care of it. But me being me, I just couldn't rebuild the caliper and slap it back on, so did a little "fluffing".

It appears that I am the first one to ever open this up. The dust/grease cap had no marks on it from being previously pried off. Interesting to document all the proper brands and codes of these parts.

Check these pics and tell me if you see anything interesting and feel free to toss it in the "Shark Tank".

I think the detail work looks great but is it just the photo angle that makes the flex brake hose look almost fully extended?

Good eye! The hose is an aftermarket replacement (changed simply because I was a bit leery of a 48 year old hose) that by measurement is actually 3/8" longer than the factory hose. In the pic the steering is turned slightly right as well as hanging freely.

One can never be over-fluffed! Nice work.

As I recall working at a Pontiac Dealer, the calipers were bare cast. Have thought about using RPM, but unsure if it can handle that kind of heat.

In general, I would agree with that statement. But what you're looking at is exactly how it came apart, except for being cleaned up. There is still a hint of black paint. Notice the spots of humidity rust showing through here and there.
The lighting and flash make it appear a bit darker than in person. Kind of reminds me of the wisp of black paint most master cylinders got.

Many parts shipped to the sub assy. Areas got some cheap black alkalyd paint. I only even mentioned it because you used the "Shark tank" term hehe. I wonder if RPM would work over top of what you have to preserve it. Looks great, for sure!

No problemo! Shark Tank away. There are some things that may not be correct for '72 that I've fluffed.

I am surprised no one has commented about the sticker on the dust/splash guard.
