Default 73 1/2 moulded headliner

Can't anyone make a 73 1/2 firebird one piece headliner these days, I've bought two different brands and both are of very poor quality as in holes in the wrong location, wrinkly vinyl and just poor fitment. I've seen someone on eBay that sells a kit everything you need to convert back to the conventional bow type headliner. I'm thinking of going that route. I guess they don't have the technology as they had in the 1970s.

I bought the abs version and am having fits getting it to work. So far we have spaced it down with a 1" roll of masking tape behind the dome light. Totally rigged. If it doesn't work I'm going to put the bow system in.

Same problem I'm having, I think I have nearly 2" inches between the ABS and the inner roof panel, ( make a good attic ). Thinking about going to the bow style too.

The first one I tried was a PUI, the one I'm fighting with now is ACME.

I ordered mine through Ames. I can't remember if it was PUI or Legondary. But I do remember calling for customer support and getting a donut. They manufactur the thing you would think they would know how to install it. I'll run it with the 1.5 inch "attic". It looks decent. Just can't believe they can't get this piece right with all the technology we have these days. And I don't enjoy throwing 3 bill away.

I just talked to a customer of mine that bought a PUI headliner from me for a -73 and he was very pleased with the fitment.

I'm happy to hear that someone has had luck with the one piece moulded headliner.
I restore classic and muscle cars for a living, I've installed a lot of headliners to some high dollar cars but these reproduction moulded one piece headliners just don't meet my standards.
They are useable just not right.

Hey Bruce. Can you post some pictures of your headliners you installed? I've got mine in but with the 1' spacer on the dome light I'm still a fuzz short on the sides. I think I can play with it a bit to get it to work. Have some slight waves going on in front of the rear window too.

Thanks
Rob
