Default Goodyear Custom Tread

Hello,

I was at Kelsey's when the first shipment of these tires was off loaded. The GR70-15 Goodyear Custom Tread also know as the 'Steel Belted Radial'. This was the first tire that used a tread pattern designed by GM also known as TPC Spec. Please feel free to contact me with any questions you may have. My cell is 816-654-3400.

The first pic is showing a Trans Am with the Goodyear Steel belted radial, the second has a Goodyear Steel Belted Radial on the rear and a Uniroyal Steel Belted Radial on the front, and the 1980 TTA is wearing a Polysteel on the front, and a Goodyear Steel Belted Radial on the rear. So much for continuity...

Hello and happy Labor Day weekend.

I just managed to visit Kelsey this weekend and he shared with me that we are going to have an increase in price for the performance group. The increase will be $10/ tire. This increase will occur 11/1. Give me a call so we can book your tires in at the old price. 816-654-3400.

I will also be bringing tires to the Pure Stock Muscle Car Drag Race. Contact me if you want tires delivered to the track!!

Do they have the normal 7 year life expectancy? They would look good on my 78 TA.

Most of these cars are out of UV... That kills tires. Give me a call.. 816-654-3400.

The Pure Stock Races are next weekend the 16th and 17th. Stanton, MI. Great time for everyone.

All Performance tire will increase $10/tire on 11/1.

Thank you for your interest.

Question Just curious...

I bought my '77 TA in '82 and found out later after I flipped it that the tires on it were Goodyear with what they called a "Flexten Cord"...and the guy I sold the three good tires to said they were an experimental design and he couldn't find one anywhere. A dealer hooked him up with a tire with matching lettering but it was not the Flexten tire...and was $136...a lot for a tire in 1982. Just curious if anyone has any insight on this tire. They sure did stick!

The flexten cord was actually made out of Armid fibers... Does that sound familiar?? Try Kevlar!! The tires were introduced in 1978 for the Corvette Pace Car... That size tire for the Pace Car-- 255/60/15 is being reproduced.

I used to work at Goodyear in the '80's-'90's----the problem with the Polysteel Radials and the Custom Tread Radials back then is that they were too good...we'd sell a set and not see the customer again for another 5-7 years and/or 70,000 miles! They were excellent tires. Hopefully the repros are comparable.

Well, I drove it 10 miles today, and they work as well if not better than the Radial T/A's that were on it!
