Are 70 rear wheel wells supposed to be painted?
I'm currently prepping for painting the body and it occurs to me I am not sure if the rear wheel wells are supposed to be body colour or not.
I sprayed epoxy bed liner on mine to simulate undercoating and it has a matte black finish. I like the look, but would consider paint body colour over them if they are really supposed to be that way. What's the consensus? If they came painted, was it just overspray or actually completely painted? Thanks!

I can't speak for 1970, but the rear wheel Wells on my 68 had body color on top of the under coating. It looked like overspray. When I painted my car, I did not mask the rear wheel wells to simulate the overspray. Sadly....not much overspray made it that far inside for some reason. I think the modern HVLP guns are pretty good at concentrating the paint where you need it.

I saw a pic of a 70 gto with the wheel wells painted body color....it looked so wrong. I did the same thing and did mine in bed liner spray cans.,

My 71 has the same thing as Purely; body paint with heavy factory undercoating.
