Default Hurst Mag Wheels

Hello forum friends,

I’m looking for a set of wheels for my 1964 GTO convertible to jazz up the car. . Ideally I’d like a set of repro 15” gold hurst mag wheels. Dazzler appeared to offer a good reasonably priced alternative but it looks like they’ve stopped producing them.

Any other options out there? Also interested in what size wheels tires offset to run on that car.

Thanks in advance for any insights you may have, thanks.

The Parts Place sells reproduction Hurst mags for around $2,000 for a set of 4. They're polished spokes with Chrome trim rings like the original. The quality isn't as good as the original. You could have them plated but I think the chrome finish would be fine unless maybe your car is Tiger Gold.

Have you tried all the major vendors to see if anyone has leftover stock?

Thanks fellas, I like that idea Mike, I was pumped when I saw those Dazzlers, I do have original hubcaps which are in nice shape which will stay with the car, I was simply looking for something reasonable to run on the car.
Major vendors would jegs, summit, tire rack, others? I saw this gauge magazine add, who I’ll call tomorrow. Guess it’s a call around game?

Some show out of stock on their page, so probably wouldn't waste time. But others would be a call around game. Walmart.com also lists them through a 3rd party seller, so you could click on that vendor to get their phone information. Hopefully if it hasn't been too long, someone still has 4 in stock. Good luck.

They do pop up from time to time if you’re patient.

Here on the forums about 5 years ago.

They came with triple pinstripe white wall General Dual 300 tires that were last produced around 1968. I have little doubt they’re the only tires that were ever mounted on these wheels.

Here are my vintage Hurst wheels with Diamondback redlines. An original can also.

I sold the General tires to a custom car guy, he fully understands they’re best used for display or show ony. Said he was gonna run ‘em, hopefully mainly for fairground cruising. I want to go places without worrying about 50 year old tires so I sold them as soon as I took delivery of the wheels.

Got a deal on some lightly used 215/75-14 Coker wide whites so they’ll soon be the second set of tires mounted on these wheels.

If I had my druthers, I’d get these custom made Rallye 1’s by EVOD. Only problem is that they’re likely so expensive, they
Might double the value of my old ‘66.

Mounted.

They’ll look a lot better once I install the trim rings and caps.

Thanks!

I was going to buy some narrow whitewalls in the same 215/75-14 size but I ran across these for about the same price so I thought, why not ?

Not everyone’s cup of tea I’m sure but that’s okay, I build my stuff to please myself and if someone else digs it too then great.

NOS trim ring and original center cap.

Makes all the difference, my other 3 trim rings are all the originals that came on the wheels with decent driver-quality chrome. That’s pretty much the best center cap, they’re all in poor to fair condition.
