NEW "WRITE-IN" SECTIONS OF THE PJ

Hi Everyone,

We would like to add two new sections to the Pontiac Journal but We'll need your help. We'd like you to write us with performance and restoration questions that you have or want to know more about. From the questions that we receive, we will choose one Performance question and one Restoration question for each issue of the PJ. Then we will pose those questions to the leaders and most knowledgeable guys in those fields and post their responses.

The idea is that when you ask a performance or restoration question on the forums, sometimes you get varying answers from guys that have some experience with your issue but the most knowledgeable guys in the field aren't always around to steer you in the right direction. Here is your chance to get your questions answered by the guys you've looked up to and envied for their Pontiac knowledge and experience.

So, if you have a Performance or Restoration question that you're having trouble getting a definitive answer to, type it in an email and send it to PontiacJournal@PerformanceYears.com and you might get it answered on the next issue of the Journal.

Thanks!

  PJ LOOKING FOR CONTRIBUTING WRITERS

The Pontiac Journal Staff would like to alleviate some of the stress our Writing staff has been under and to add a larger variation of voices to the Pontiac Journal. It is with this in mind that we would like to offer all Pontiac Enthusiasts the chance to write articles for the Pontiac Journal. We'd like to encourage anyone that has an idea for an interesting article to write up the article and send it in to us. If you have a Pontiac Experience you would like to write about, write an article and send it in. If you have a Technical Issue you have good insight into, write an article and send it in. If you've noticed an emerging trend in the Pontiac Hobby, write an article and send it in. If you have an idea for an article but need some help getting information or details, send us a note because we may be able to help.

We will review all the submissions and the writer of any articles that we print in the Pontiac Journal will be paid for the article (between $50-$100 depending on the final length and content of the article).

Please send your articles to this email address
pontiacjournal@performanceyears.com

  PONTIAC'S SPORT WOOD WHEELS

Chris Casperson

For years, probably the most sought after option for GTO's and early Firebirds was the Sport Wood Wheel. Starting in 1964, Pontiac introduced it's first optional Sport Wood wheel. The new wheel featured a 4 spoke brushed aluminum spoke design with the spokes aligned at 2, 4, 7 and 10 o'clock. The teak wood rim was split by a chrome ring making this wheel extremely difficult to reproduce or repair cracked or worn wood surfaces. The collar was also brushed aluminum extending approximately 5" to cover the gap between the wheel and the steering column. The large chrome center cap had a prominent red and chrome Pontiac arrow and the word 'Pontiac' across the top. This 4 spoke wheel did not ...

  AN INTERVIEW WITH
  ULTIMATEGTO.COM’S SEAN MATTINGLY

Keith MacDonald

If you own a GTO, or any other Pontiac for that matter, you have probably spent a little time at Sean Mattingly’s UltimateGTO.com website. It currently boasts the world’s largest photo collection of A-body Pontiacs in the world. If you’ve ever wondered how Sean does what he does and still has time to make a living, read on...

  STRAY GOATS ACROSS AMERICA:
Putting Real Excitement Back in Pontiac Clubs

Keith MacDonald

It’s very late and I’m wandering around the steamy, rain-soaked parking lot during my first night at the Louisville GTOAA Nationals. The intense thunder and lightening storm has barely subsided, yet in the darkness there’s a frat party going on under one of the tents outside the hotel.

“What the heck are a bunch of frat boys doing at a GTO event?” I ponder as I pass by their tent...
