Default '56 dual quad pictures up close

I'm putting this on here because there are a couple of current threads on these carbs going right now and thought these may be of interest.

This set is not correct in that the carbs are WCFB '56 Corvette clones and the original Pontiac carbs were all 4GCs I think it was. Quite a bit of research was done however before this set was put together. The original NASCAR sets had canted aluminum spacers under the carbs that came in two angles of slope. Apparently the slant on the spacers was driven by the track they were running that week? The spacers had different part numbers and if you look closely at the rear of one of the spacers in these pictures you can see the number stamped into it. These spacers are flat and not real ones. I have no idea if sets installed on over the counter setups had the big aluminum spacers. '56 Corvette dual quad carbs had an idle mixture screw on the river's side rear throttle bore and if you look these screws were put on these carbs. They do not go all the way into the throttle bore on these carbs they are just there. Whatever Chevy wanted to do with that screw didn't work because they issued a tech bulletin during the year that instructed the dealers to screw them all the way in and they did not put them on '57> carbs. The water neck is not real either. An original could not be found so a '61> tripower neck was cut off, shortened and reclocked, and welded back together. This set was done about seven or eight years ago and all total the man that commissioned it has about $5000 in the entire setup batwing air cleaner and all. The set ran fine when flow tested on a 389 engine and I understand performs well on the owners '56 engine.
