Florida is trying to get it changed to DST all year long.

They should split the time to 1/2 hour, move it, and leave it there. Hopefully, everyone would be happy. I do think it's ridiculous to keep changing the time.

Sure! Let's see, there's sunup, high noon, and sundown. As the sun approaches the horizon, you can easily approximate just how much time you have before sunset with nothing more than an outstretched arm. If the sun is like four fingers from the horizon you've got roughly an hour before it gets dark.

As mentioned. Split the difference and leave it there year round.

Put me in the camp that wonders why people get upset over this. It's a minor deal twice a year, but allows us more daylight during the hours we can enjoy it in the summertime.

December and January suck because you drive to work in the dark and drive home from work in the dark.

I can't understand how a one hour change in the spring and fall can upset people's schedule so much. It's a non issue that they seem to make an issue over....

Most of Arizona has no Daylight Saving Time.

"The owners of drive-in theaters don’t like it either. By the time it’s dark enough to show the movies, most people are in bed. It’s rumored Arizona rejected daylight saving time because its senate majority leader in 1967 owned a chain of drive-in theaters, though I’m sure that had nothing to do with his decision."

Not upset, but when you’re working on a project seems there’s just never enough time in a day to get things done, especially if you work a full time job and have limited hours of daylight to work on it.

Hers my thing.
Growing up, hunted and fished year round with father and older brother. Had to be wherever going before got light out.
Same thing older teen years with brother inlaws and nephew.
Never used an alarm clock.
Haven't had to start work till 7.30/8.00 depending on my day to open past 40 years, still get up just before gets light out no matter how late out in garage.
Average 5-6 hours sleep every night year round.
So no matter what time of year, wake up just before light out.
Do take cat naps in garage some nights...

No matter how you turn the clocks there is the same amount of day light though out the year. Right! Can anybody argue that? Are you actually saving day light during day light's savings time? Hell no!

Maybe you should move to Alaska for the summer and South pole for the winter(summer there) .

I suspect the most vocal/annoyed, are the ones least affected by yearly daylight hour changes;
I wasn't going to say anything, but this above quote prompted me;

I appreciate daylight savings for being given more ability to see daylight, because going to work in the dark, then coming home in the dark really sucks.

This gets more emphasised the further north you live;
And seeing as I can not practically or legally reside any further south than the 49th parallel (or 49 longitude), this is something I hope doesn't end.
I'd actually prefer the longer daylight savings that we used to have.

No one is saying that. Of course there are the same number of hours of daylight in a day, no matter what the clock says. Going back and forth from daylight savings time to standard time simply allow people to take more advantage of the daylight hours that are available.

Either keep it or ditch it, I don’t care either way. The one observation that I note is the reports of car collisions, decreased work production, and anxiety among some people affected by the time change.
The thing is, we “fall back“ in the fall, putting us back on standard time. If the sun was to come up at 7am (on DST) then it is now up at 6am. But the sun goes down an hour earlier, so what’s the big deal. Here in Canada, you can’t win either way. The days are depressingly short in the winter and no time change is going to make it any better. In the summer, the days are very long, so who cares what time it is.
Life today is different. A lot of working people have to work all kinds of different shifts and different start and quitting times. So I don’t really see a need for switching times around.

There are unintended consequences of the time change. Co-worker of mine worked 30 hours straight on a project when the "Fall back" happened. Her time sheet was rejected for having 25 hours on it for the one day.. Wasn't a big deal, but she did legitimately work 25 hours that day.....

Daylight savings begins in March,.. so up here in the northern plains in mid-summer the sun would come up at 4:30am instead of 5:30am, and would be light outside by 4:00am. And sunset would be at 8:30pm instead of 9:30pm. What a waste,.. 2 to 3 hours of light when people are sleeping, and dark when doing things on summer evenings.

We love the long summer days up here, even though the 4th of july fireworks cannot begin until after 10:00pm

I really don't care either way.

The time to arise is when one awakes.
The time to eat is when one is hungary.
The time to sleep is when one is sleepy.
The time to work is basically what's left.

Watching time on a dial is basically a waste of time.

Maybe those that dislike DST would like it better if the "savings" accrued interest???

Jon.
