Ponjon if you are referring to a block fill / ring seal topic there are good comments on the subject including some related to Jim Butler and ta man's recent build here:

http://forums.maxperformanceinc.com/...highlight=1997

And others made regarding ring seal in conjunction with hard block. Some related to higher horsepower considerations as in post #13 here:

I finally installed a line lock for more consistent burnouts. I also installed a shift light since I may be shifting higher than my tach goes. If I have time tonight a new front to back fuel line and a fuel pump relay. Current plan for testing tomorrow night is leaving the tune alone and playing with shift points.

Ouch. Those Pontiacs are making too much power! On your trans, be sure to check the plastic gear on the governor, as well as the vacuum operated modulator before tearing things apart too far.

Bound to happen, although with the well thought out combinations and great craftsmanship that has gone into these 3 cars, it doesn't necessarily HAVE to happen.

I've thought several times, especially about Ernies car. The brutally torquey engine testing every component behind it, from the transmission all the way to the tires....

As CNC reported the word of the night was carnage! I did manage to get in 6 and 1/4 passes>Et's ranged from 10.91 to 11.07..humidity was pretty high..needed a good burnout really to hook each pass. 60's ranged from 1.58's to 1.65. My mph was high 124's to low 125's. First time using a line lock and a shiftlight. Pretty content with the times with the weather and track conditions..didn't touch the tune at all...was playing with shift points a bit ..doesn't really make much difference going from 5600 to 6000 rpm for shift points. I had one run where after the burnout I left the transmission in 2nd gear for the launch...with my transmission it will shift itself but quick and at a low rpm..it shifted itself at about 4000rpm into 2nd..even with the big rpm drop from the 2.75 first gear I still ran 11.01 at 125.07.
Within a couple days I'm going to order a new chrome moly driveshaft with billet front and rear yokes and 1350 u joints.

Yep was a great nite and time till we had to leave ....lol

I did a quick look this mornin vacuum line at the modulator split enough to leak but not come off and cause me the issue...fixed the elbow roadtest seems ok...need to drain the trans and change the filter just because of the drive home
Only hope I didn't do any damage on the drive home with some of the slipping it was doin sometimes...time will

If I recall you are running radials? I have bias slicks and leave my car in drive for the burnout. I let them spin for a couple seconds in 3rd gear. Anything less and my 60ft time drops. I have a 3.5" steel shaft with 1350 ujoints, and so far all is good. Ended up with a billet trans yoke, and a replacement truck cast yoke on the diff.

Forgot to mention... I lose a little time when shifting at 5,500 compared to 6k. I thought maybe the wider spread from 2nd to 3rd due to the low gear set might be causing too much of a drop? But sounds like it was not affecting your car.

One option is Strange..the other option is using a local driveline speciality shop. We have a pretty good local shop.

just curious if you shopped around yet. i had my local driveline build me a new shaft with thicker than stock tube, but reused my trans & diff yoke.... they are the weak link im sure so i will be looking for a new 1350 yoke & maybe complete driveshaft.

The local shop is cheaper..but I have to check out what they have for yokes..I definitely want a billet front and 1350 u joints...I like the idea of a smaller diameter ChromeMoly...season is almost over...but I have time..I have a "Facebook" group friend talking me into going to Grandbend Motorplex for Friday..so I better hurry up! To save time maybe a new shaft with a new billet tranny yoke,1350's, with a conversion 1350 on the rear and using stock pinion yoke. Over the winter replace the diff yoke with a 1350 billet.
