Default Baby Gators

The div 3 race, called the Baby Gators, is scheduled to start tomorrow, weather permitting.

http://classracer.com/classforum/sho...01&postcount=1

It has become a common practice for the national event host tracks to have a div Lucas Oil Series race, either the week before or the week after the nat event. For those racers who travel long distances to get to the nat event, it gives them the opportunity to run 2 different races, at the same track, 2 weeks in a row.

But, some of the nat events have a low quota, for Stock & SS. For those who can't get into the nat event, it gives them the opportunity to race on the same track the nat event is held on. So, there'll be some cars racing this week, that can't race at the Gators, next week.

They're also supposed to run for class wins at this weeks race.

Last year there were 103 Stockers entered.

https://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCS...r2019#indextop

Adam Strang won his D/S class. And Thomas Strand got RU in B/SA, with the former Scott Burton RAIV '70 Formy.

https://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCS...r2019#indextop

Hoping to see Bruce Noland's new '69 Bird Stocker at these 2 races.

Gotta make a correction. Gainesville is obviously in div 2, NOT div 3. I usually proofread my posts several times, in order to fix most of the mistakes, during the 1-hour limit. Just missed this one.

The weather report shows a complete wash-out for this afternoon. But, maybe they can get in 1 round of qualifying before the rain hits. Here's a link for today's Drag Racer TV coverage.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nEdeppj3cpY

For the 1st round of Stock, the only Pontiac name I recognized was Adam Strang. He finished #8, with an .892 under 10.608.

In Stock Q-2, Wayne Larsen just ran a 12.345, in his '77 Lemans.

Adam Strang ran a 10.658. The announcer called his '68 Bird a "Formula Firebird".

Adam Strang ended up in the #15 qualifying position, today. And Wayne Larsen was #56, in a 94 car field.

Don't know if any other Pontiacs will join the party tomorrow, or not.

Tried to watch some of the class elims today.

Adam Strang had the only car in D/S, so he had to run in the Stick Combo class. He won his 1st round, with a 10.56. He got the bye in the 2nd round & ran a 10.42. Don't how quick the car can go.

Wayne Larsen also had the only car in his class, & had to run the Auto Combo class. The only time I saw him run, he got a bye run.

Adam had to run a real slow car in the final, & give up a 5 sec head start. BUT, he ripped off a 10.376, for the Stick Combo win ! Congrats to Adam for that class win !

Don't know if that the all-time best ET for the car, or not. Best I've seen.

The Drag Racer TV coverage today began with more S/ST qualifying. I saw 3 Pontiac powered cars, driven by Kevin MacNicol, Dave Polichena, & Laurel Morris.

Also just saw Joe Tankersley make a pass in Super Comp.

By the way, ask Bruce Noland, by PM, about his '69 Bird Stocker. He said it will be a T/A clone with RAIV heads & will run C/SA. But, he didn't say when it will debut.

Adam Strang survived E-1. So, he gets to race on Sunday.

https://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCS...er=30#indextop

Laurel Morris & Scott Fifield survived S/ST E-1.

https://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCS...er=30#indextop

Bruce Noland got back to me & said they hope to have the '69 T/A ready for the Atlanta race. That might be the Spring Nats, in mid May. He does have it listed on the Stock pre-entry list.

https://www.nhraeventreg.com/ListEve...=AG1&cc=8&rn=7

But, there is a Lucas Oil Series div 2 race, the 1st weekend of May. in Atlanta. So, maybe he'll have it ready to test, at that race, before the Nat event.

In Q-2, Randi Lyn was still #12, with a .913 under, 10.637. But Michael picked it up a bit, to #19, with an .851 under, 10.699. Both cars are running D/SA, at this race.

No Pro cars or fans this weekend. Lower Sportsman classes will run, without spectators.

Both Pontiacs survived E-1. Randi Lyn cut a perfect .000 light. Turns out she didn't need a good light that round. Would have been great for a close round tho. Michael cut a .010 light. That ain't too shabby either.

https://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCS...UMMIT#indextop

Joe Tankersley won his 1st round of S/C.

Randi Lyn left too soon & Michael slowed. So the Pontiac Stockers are out.

https://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCS...UMMIT#indextop

Laurel Morris & Matt Tankersley survived S/G E-1.

https://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCS...UMMIT#indextop

In S/C E-2, Joe Tankersley cut a .005 light, but went a bit too quick, losing a double breakout race.

https://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCS...er=30#indextop

In S/G E-2, Matt Tankersley won his match-up. So, I reckin he has the only Pontiac powered car left in elims.

Matt cut a good light, but lost a close double breakout race.

Congrats to Matt for going more rounds than any other Pontiac !

Default Div 2 & 4

Didn't know any of the lower classes were running yet.

At the div 2 race Don Kennedy was #2, with his 428 powered Sunfire.

https://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCS...r=100#indextop

At the div 4 race, #19 on the Stock Q-list was a '74 T/A. Since the driver is listed as being from Victoria Texas, I assume he's driving the same car that Hunter Pierdolla has been driving, for the past few years. The car is shown on John Clegg's Mission Garage website. The drivers name, at this race, is listed as Devon Dioguardi.

https://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCS...r=100#indextop

In SS, Stacy McCarty is on the bottom of the list. He obviously had problems.

https://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCS...UMMIT#indextop

Are any of you S/G & S/ST guys running at either of these races ?

There is some live coverage, at the div 2 race.
