Default 1969 non-hideaway headlight chrome

We are considering reproducing these bezels. Depending on the results of the Poll, we think the retail price will be around $329-$350/pair once they are available. Please vote in the poll to give us a good idea of the need for these in the market. Assume that the quality will be as good as our recent 1967 Grill surround and 1968 Valance moldings. (these are both NOS quality)

Pass a link to this topic along to any 1969 GTO owners you know. The more that vote, the better chance that we will proceed. This is a very expensive project and will take a while just to break even. The support of most 1969 GTO owners is necessary to get this project off the ground.

thanks

68 is different than 69... The 68's have a deeper bezel...

If you are a 1969 owner and want to see these come out, you need to share a link to this topic so we can get a getter indication of interest level. So far we have 4 yes and 3probably's in the past week. That's a good start but we need to see this topic stay relevant. Spread the word. Share the link!

I just saw this post for the first time. I would be in for at least one pair and maybe more depending on the final quality of the part for fit and finish. I have been hoarding good originals for years but I still have 10 cars (all fixed lights) and not nearly enough good bezels for them.

We are still waiting for a quote on these. We can certainly make them as we would use the same factory that made our very successful 1967 GTO grill moldings.

However, look at the poll. 8 people showing interest over more than 2 months since posted. That's not a good sign.

If you guys want to help, try and post a link to this topic through any means you have. E-mail, club newsletter, Tech forums, user groups etc.

I'm hoping that just not that many 1969 owners have noticed this topic!

If we do them, they will be diecast as original.

You guys are welcome to mention the possible repro of these in appropriate various forum topics

I always imagined that they would get repoped in plastic similar to the tail bezels on 69 cars. The same issues exist with rechroming these pieces, being made of "grade A" pot metal and all the pits that exist. Pits are something that come back over time in general after rechroming. Not being a metalurgist (sp?) I can imagine the low quality and impurity of that form of metal has a lot to do with it. I would be happy to get these b/c rechroming is so expensive now due to enviro regulations, Here in NY, in my town we used to have a local chrome place that the state shut down with million dollar fines. I understand there to be zero chroming shops in NY state. These would be a Godsend to my car.

I assume you don't know about our pot metal tail light bezels for the 69's huh..? I found them about 3 years ago p/n RPR69BM and they are excellent ! I have a 69 conv show car and I would put them on my car if I had needed to. The fit and quality is superb. I still have Kirban's redone bezels on my car since 1994 and they are still perfect. I'm thinking of getting a spare set just incase...

Well, honestly no- since I rechromed mine back in 86 and although the pits are coming back slightly over time they are still fine for a driver. So I never shopped for them. When I ordered last year from PY it was all stuff for my 68 project car so I never ever noticed the metal 69 bezels in the catalog! I have seen the plastic ones elsewhere and am not a fan. I may be needing a set of the rears in metal too in the near future for a different project I am working on. THANK YOU!

I just sorted through my 69 GTO headlight bezels to see what I had (and might need) and lo and behold I found a pair of 68 GTO headlight bezels! I have been telling everyone I am sold out, but now I have a pair available.

Default 1969 non-hideaway GTO Headlight bezels

Well I just got a set of the first prototype of the 69 non hideaway bezels. They look pretty good. I have installed them in a good Endura nose along with the backing plates, inner grills, etc... The alignment seems good, but more testing has to be done. I still have to install headlights in the backing plates and see if I can adjust the adjusting screws. I'll keep everybody posted on the status... GP Mike
