1977 Trans Am Black 4-speed W72
This is my 1977 Trans Am Bandit SE Tribute. NON T-top, NON AC. It was a Brentwood Brown 400 4-speed car with the black & white tuxedo interior. It was repainted earlier this year with a full Phoenix Graphics premium decal kit added. It still has its original seats and door panels which are pretty good for 42 years of age. I didn’t have the heart to replace them. The original dash is perfect. The black exterior with the white interior is a striking combo.
I really like the 1978 WS6 wheels so I added those. In another nod to that model year I rebuilt and installed a complete carb-to-pan 1978 4-speed W72 motor with the XX block and WC coded, 220 horsepower. The weak 500577 1977 engine blew up early in the car’s life and is long gone. I also installed 3.73 gears so it really jumps off the line. Passing other cars, staying in 4th gear is an absolute joy in this car.
Car has its original panels including original quarters and trunk pan (small sectional repair on right side of trunk) and original nice frame rails, original primer on most of the floor. Rear seat floor footwells were replaced. That was the only required repairs on the body. Most everything either rebuilt, refurbished or replaced. Clutch, numbers T10, 10-bolt, engine, exhaust, brakes, suspension bushings etc. Handles like a Trans Am of this era should. Oil pressure gauge and water temp. do not work so a new set of aftermarket gauges are included. Headlights & signals, wipers, tach, speedo, power trunk release and power windows all work well, though the passenger side is slower going up due to new Metro weatherstripping.
