Yes, it didn't make much of a difference from what i remember. With exhaust off i wanted to play with the collector length/size but never did.

I'm just going to throw this out there as no one on PY ever talks about the full stainless turbine mufflers. Aero Turbine has a full 304 stainless bullet shaped performance muffler that has a full lifetime guarantee that also come with and without a built in resonator. part number is 3535 XL for the resonated one, the non resonated one is 3535.
Jones exhaust also make a very similar looking full stainless muffler that uses the same part numbers, 3535 XL resonated and 3535 non resonated. The Jones exhaust is cheaper than the Aero Turbine is by probably 35%. Aero Turbine is roughly $150 and the Jones version can be found for $75 each. Pricing is all over on these mufflers if you look on the net for the best deal. https://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-Jones-P...l/153016148965 These mufflers are full stainless with no packing to fall apart. I have the 4040XL on my turbo diesel for 8 years and even driving it in the winter on salted roads there has been no deterioration at all. The Aero Turbine was a big player for a while in the performance market then they went out of business and someone resurrected the company now. When they folded Jones Exhaust started making their own version of the Aero Muffler. I suspect Jones was the original manufacturer for Aero, and made a knock off that they sell for less money. BTW, both are made in the USA of 304 stainless and warranted for life. It maybe something useful, or maybe you have no interest at all in this type of muffler. They are used on some oval track cars around the US and are straight through design with a patented air foil louver that is supposed to make a low pressure area inside the muffler for better exhaust scavenging than conventional mufflers. Link to video of how the muffler works: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iDTTOa77efs You can go for the cheaper non resonated version if noise is not a factor, I choose the resonated version as on a daily driver it is a factor for me. |

I found the same thing. No real significant change with or without exhaust. Running a 3.5 X to mufflers dumped in front of the axle.
My car is mainly raced. The inside of the mufflers rusted out. Probably because it is never ran long enough to burn all the water out of them. Might try a couple weep holes in the new ones. |
