Interesting analogy. A rare case where pushing a rope works better than pulling it.

Be a leader not a follower.... I personally don't like them. Cutting a hole in a perfectly good fender is dumb and your not any faster .. lol And when you blow it up you will be drive in your own oil....lol

The risk of driving in your own oil is far greater with the exits under the floor boards. Side exits keep the underneath car much cleaner as well. Mine exit out the sides similar to Langers

Side exit is the way to go. Especially with a power asset car. These are race cars, not daily drivers. I would much rather have 1600 degree exhaust gas and fire exit the side instead of on my feet. Ever drive a nos pro mod with headers that exit under the car. Your feet burn. It is much easier to pull the trans with side exits as well. Remember, race car. Build it to be able to work on it.

Thanks Gary! Yes, as of now I have a stock gear set in my T-400. I am considering a different gear set.

If I do fender exits, I will more than likely sell my steel fenders and go fiberglass.

I'm also considering zoomies.

My heap has had open headers with extensions for years. It leaves a thin film of oil everywhere. Dust just sticks to it, messy. I get it what racers do the fender exit thing even thought I do not like the way they look. Zoomies will do it and still keep the look of the car. Anyone remember the side pipe fad of the 70s?
Don't see that anymore.

Just wondering why Sikgoat .John Snyder Jeff Kinsler and many other really fast Pontiac don't have front exiting exhaust.

With my car, it is physically impossible to have the headers exit under the car. Wouldn’t want them anyway but physically impossible. With the double frame rail how it ties into the mid-plate, not gonna happen.

They like the extra work of having headers in the way when pulling the trans...
I do wonder if there is loss or gain in hp with fender exits....

I like the idea of having them out of the way ..Changing converters would be a breeze.. What about flipping the headers exiting out the front fenders should be no power loss.,.
