Finished 2nd in Div 2
Pontiac power to the front! I missed winning the Super Street Div 2 Championship by less than one round! The aluminum 535 performed great. Frank at All Pontiac helped me with the Tiger heads and intake. Butler did the entire short block and helped me a lot. I’m sending the intake and heads off now to get extra work done and replacing my APD 1050 Maxspeed ( which worked perfectly) with a 1250 Maxspeed. Hoping to bump the mph to at least 157 or so. Already looking forward to next season. Pontiac power still gets the job done !!

Question. Have noticed more & more guys in S/ST & S/G building cars that will go MUCH quicker than the 10.90 & 9.90 index. I guess this is what's called "throttle stop" racing. I assume this is done in an effort to be going more mph, at the finish line, than your opponent. Or, even if you are not faster, at least you're closer to the same speed, at the line, which makes it easier to decide your finish line strategy. Is this anywhere in the ball park ? If not, please explain why so many wanna build their car capable of going so much quicker than the index. I reckin this is why the dragsters dominate the local bracket classes, where they run with the door cars. The dragsters are much faster & hard to see & judge, at the line. I know guys who quit racing because of having to run against all the dragsters. We also use to hate to run against bikes. Much faster & hard to see. We beat some of 'em. But we got beat by some. Always hated to lose to a bike. Just seemed that they had too much of an advantage. |

I was 152 at Gainesville in good air. That’s almost 4 seconds on the throttle stop. I was 148-149 when it got hotter. Frank is getting me the address of where to send the heads and intake. I believe CFM South and Cerellis. I’ll let everybody know how much I pick up. The 1050 was never big enough but still worked out well. And yes, a big MPH helps a lot. We are all running on the 10.90 index and the slower cars have to try to judge the fast cars coming hard right at the finish line. It’s tougher on them cause the fast cars have it all in front of them and can see the finish line better. Super Street had a handful of 157 mph cars this year and I see that trend continuing. I want to be as fast as I can and still be consistent. A lot of the top Super Gas cars are 170 now. It happens fast down there.

Outstanding job! One of our cars we raced S/ST for a number of years. Very competitive class to break into the top ten in a division, let alone champion or runner up. Well done!

Jimmy, so I am going to ask.
Your sending your heads and intake out to get work done correct? And the main question is: are you planning on making the Orlando Divisional in February?

I’ll make Orlando this time. I missed it last year. I sent my stuff to Biscoff at BES today. Put my 1050 Maxspeed on the shelf and got the 1250 version coming. Love that Maxspeed. It so much easier to get the A/F right on and off the stop. Changes should speed me up. We’ll find out in Orlando how much.
