Default 1st Gen Firebird Tow Hitch

All,
Anyone here possibly have a tow hitch for a 1st Gen Firebird you want to sell? I realize this is the race section but, prepping for next year's Drag Week and figured I'd ask here first before fabbing or purchasing one.

Thanks,

-joe

I also have one; supposedly for a '69 (bumper hitch).

I can post up pics if the deal with 694.1 falls through.

Default hitch

I have one but It doesn't look anything like that one. I think mine is a draw tite hitch was put on the car in 1970. Let me see if I can find it and take some pictures.

Keith, where exactly does your hitch bolt? Looks interesting.

I can't answer that; I don't have a bird and it was a pile of parts when I got it as you see here.

I was going to try to fit it to my Grand Prix but I ended up adapting a small platform hitch, which turned out to be pretty easy due to the architecture under the back of the car.

It also allows me to use the ball mount to get the height that I want.

Here are the photos, it is labeled Draw tite & 67-68 Firebird. $75 would do it but it may be a hemorrhoid to box, maybe I will attach it to a sheet of plywood & ship it that way? Maybe we could arrange some sort of delivery... I am in Milwaukee.

694.1,
That is a bit larger than I would have thought. Looks like it is shaped to go under the stock gas tank and bolt to the truck floor along with the 2 front mounts possibly to the outside bumper mounts. Can't even imaging what shipping would be.
Thanks for the pictures but, I'm going to pass on this one. I don't have a gas tank anymore, now a fuel cell in the trunk.

Keith,
Thanks for the pictures but, going to pass on yours also. Not quite sure what to do with it to tow a small trailer. I may end up just fabbing my own.

Again guys, thanks for the pictures, greatly appreciated.

68Hotbird,
Let me know if you find yours.

-joe

My car had one bolted to the rear bumper when I bought it in 1987. I got rid of it back then, so I don’t have one, but they do or did exist. Mine was very simple, U shaped, looked nothing like the ones posted so far. Mine was very light duty, probably what you are looking for.

WTS69Bird,
Are you willing to sell your hitch? If so, how much? PM me if you'd like.

Thanks,

-joe

Yes, that’s what I had. I remember each top of the U attached to the bumper. And my bumper had holes after removing it. Can’t really remember much else about it. It’s been three decades, so it’s starting to get fuzzy

this is an interesting discussion, I have often thought about the viability of towing a small trailer in years to come with my Firebird, and figured that it should be doable.. I was thinking of getting an early 1970's Pontiac accessorizer to see what they looked like too...

I mean this was actually a thing:

That's exactly what I'm looking for.
Will you see it and how much?

Thanks,

All, thanks so much for posting what you have but please don't post up that you have a hitch if you're not willing to sell it.

Thanks,

-joe
